    Team news as Atlantique Stade Rochelais host Gloucester in Saturday's European Rugby Challenge Cup fixture in France (19:45 GMT).

    Gloucester lock Jeremy Thrush will make his first appearance of the season while hooker Richard Hibbard and prop John Afoa return to the side.

  3. Mural in Watchet depicts the town's colourful history

    Take a look at Watchet's wall of wonder.

    The mural, painted by artist Pat Dennis, is over 45m (148ft) long and features Vikings, prehistoric creatures and a train.

  4. Sunset landing for 'human swan' Sacha Dench

    Conservationist Sacha Dench landed at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire earlier today.

    She's travelled 7,000km tracking the migration of Bewick's swans from the tundra to try and find out why numbers are falling.

  5. Bath Rugby's expansion plans can restart after court ruling

    Bath Rugby's plans for the permanent redevelopment of The Rec are back on track following a decision in the courts. 

    It confirms that the landlords, Bath Recreation Ground Trust, do have the power to grant the club extra land as it looks to improve facilities and increase capacity. 

    The club are expected to outline their plans next year. 

  6. Football: Bristol City take on Preston North End tomorrow

    Bristol City take on Preston North End in the Championship on Saturday; kick-off at 3pm.

    Goalkeeper Frank Fielding is a doubt but the Robins have no other new injury concerns.

    And here's a few facts ahead of the fixture:

    • Bristol City have lost their last two league games against Preston at Ashton Gate - as many as they'd lost in their previous 31 home league games against them
    • Preston are unbeaten in their last six league meetings with Bristol City (W3 D3)
    • Bristol City have lost five of their last six Championship games (W1), with their only win coming against Ipswich at the start of the month (2-0)

  7. Tribute made to Tesco car park crash victim

    The family of an 86-year-old woman who died following a crash in a Tesco car park have paid tribute to their "beloved wife, mother and grandmother".

    Colombine Charnock was a passenger in a Skoda when it collided with four other vehicles and hit the supermarket building in Hungerford on 8 December.

    She died in hospital the next day.

    The family of Mrs Charnock, from Buttermere in Wiltshire, said she would be "missed by her many friends".

    Ten days before Christmas a Bristol family has had to say goodbye to their home. 

    Katie Sobol and her two children have been living in their house for more than nine years.

    But their landlord is selling up and Katie and her husband – who is unable to work – have had to register themselves homeless with the council.  

  9. Rape victim calls for changes to the justice system

    A mother who was raped in her own home is campaigning for changes to the justice system to help victims. 

    Helen Stockford, from Bristol, was attacked by Mark Shirley who is serving 16 life sentences for her rape and the rape of another woman. 

    He'd already been convicted of murder but was out on parole at the time of the attack.  

    Helen has waived her right to anonymity so she can speak out about the lack of help for victims, both emotionally and financially.

  10. Chorister from Wells starring in Bear Hunt animation

    A 10-year-old chorister from Wells has the starring role in one of this year's big Christmas TV animations.

    Ozzie Latta, who sings with the Wells Cathedral Choir, is the voice of Max in the film We're Going on a Bear Hunt. 

    It is being shown on Channel Four on Christmas Eve and again on Christmas Day.

  11. Mannequin Challenge used to recruit fire fighters

    They're more used to moving at speed, but retained fire fighters from Wiltshire have taken part in the Mannequin Challenge.

    Some 60% of firefighters in Dorset and Wiltshire work on an on-call basis.  

    The retained crew from Amesbury filmed the scene in their station to promote their campaign "can you fill this seat" in the hope people will want to be trained to join them.

    The film demonstrates the critical moment just before the crew leaves the station after being called out.

  12. Badger cull licences extended in West country

    Badger

    Badger culling in England is to be continued indefinitely.

    The government wants to extend the pilot culls that have been held in West Gloucestershire and West Somerset over the past four years.

    Today it has released the figures for those and eight other zones where shooting took place during the autumn.

    The government is now launching a consultation on allowing five-year culling extensions which ministers say will help ensure falling levels of Bovine TB.

    The success of the pilot culls in tackling the spread of the disease among cattle won't be known for at least two more years.

  13. Gloucester Rugby takeover under scrutiny

    France-based businessman Mohed Altrad's bid to take majority ownership of Gloucester Rugby is being considered by European rugby's governing body.

    His offer needs approval from European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR), World Rugby, the Rugby Football Union and French Rugby Federation.

  14. Paramotor pilot injures his hand after hitting power line

    A paramotor pilot was injured after hitting a power line in Slimbridge. 

    The man was part of the homecoming for 'human swan' Sacha Dench - who has flown from the Russian arctic following migrating Bewick's swans.

    She arrived at Slimbridge earlier this afternoon. 

    The pilot burned his hand and was treated by paramedics.

  15. Bristol park 'single punch' killer jailed for seven years

    A Bristol man who attacked another man with a single punch causing his death two days later, has been jailed for seven years.

    Robert Hines, 52, was attacked by Matthew Hill in the Quaker Memorial Garden, off Redcliff Hill in Bristol on 24 May.

    Hill, 32, of William Street, Totterdown, was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court today having earlier been found guilty of manslaughter. After serving his prison sentence Hill will be on licence until 2026.

  16. BreakingRoyal Marine's bail application is delayed

    A former Royal Marine convicted of the murder of a Taliban fighter has had his application for bail delayed until next week. 

    Alexander Blackman, known as Marine A, was jailed for 10 years- reduced to eight on appeal- for the killing in 2011. 

    An application for bail at the Court of Appeal today has now been delayed until Wednesday.

  17. 'Human swan' completes 7,000km journey

    'Human swan' Sacha Dench has completed the final leg of her epic journey tracking migrating Bewick's swans from Arctic Russia to Slimbridge, Gloucestershire. 

    However one of the paramotor pilots accompanying her received minor injuries, after apparently hitting a power line in-flight.

    One of the paragliders accompanying 'human swan' Sacha Dench on her final flight has apparently hit a power line, on their way to Slimbridge in Gloucestershire.

    Dench was heading back to the wetland centre after a 7,000 km journey following the migration of Bewick Swans from Northern Russia to Gloucestershire.
