That's it from me for this week, but we'll return on Monday at 08:00.

Before I battle the masses on Mad Friday, let's look back on some of today's stories:

    1. Everyone looks good in a Christmas jumper
    2. Be wary if someone offers you a bottle of cheap wine over Christmas
    3. We're on top of the world here in West Yorkshire
    4. Bramley, is it just for fans of police helicopters?

  2. Wakefield Wildcats: Anthony Tupou to return to Australia

Homesick Wakefield forward Anthony Tupou has had contract cancelled by mutual consent.

    Anthony Tupou

The 33-year-old joined on a two-year deal from Australian NRL side Cronulla Sharks in November 2015, making 18 appearances and scoring four tries.

But chairman Michael Carter said Tupou and his family were "suffering a lot with homesickness".

Carter told the club website: "Unfortunately things did not work out as well as we all had hoped."

Huddersfield town are away at Carrow Road tonight. Sean Scannell, pictured,  (leg), Mark Hudson (hamstring) and Joe Lolley are all still out for Huddersfield.

The government has confirmed it is committed to the idea - and Leeds Council leader Judith Blake says she's delighted.

  5. David Hockney honoured with gallery in home city of Bradford

David Hockney's home city of Bradford is to honour the artist by opening a permanent gallery dedicated to his work to mark his 80th birthday.

    David Hockney

The David Hockney Gallery will be housed in the city's Cartwright Hall.

"I used to love going to Cartwright Hall as a kid," Hockney said in a statement. "It was the only place in Bradford I could see real paintings."

The new gallery will show works ranging from early sketches to well-known paintings and his iPad drawings.

  6. Bramley, for fans of police helicopters?

If you're looking for a late Christmas gift and you live in Bramley, look no further:

  8. Women add own messages to Cancer Research poster in Leeds

This is a poster currently in the ladies loo at Leeds Railway Station.

It's a Cancer Research UK campaign encouraging women to go to the doctor if they find a lump in their breast.

But the lovely thing is that lots of women have added their own messages to the poster:

  9. West Yorkshire MP accused of wasting parliament's time

Shipley's Conservative MP is being accused of trying to waste time in parliament so that the government can't ratify a treaty on tackling violence against women.

    Philip Davies

Earlier today Philip Davies spoke for 78 minutes against draft new laws which would force Britain to adopt what's known as the Istanbul Convention

After Mr Davies had finished, Labour's Thangam Debbonaire told the Commons: "That is 78 minutes that I believe I'm never going to get back."

He argued it was "sexist" to say the focus of the convention should only be on violence against women. The bill has been supported by the government by 135 votes to 2.

Insp Mohammed Rauf says: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or saw any suspicious activity to get in contact.

"Likewise if any bird fanciers or pet shops are offered birds for sale in a deal that seems suspicious the please call."

The bells of York Minster could remain silent this Christmas after bell-ringers in Leeds reportedly rejected an invitation to ring them.

    York Minster

York Minster dismissed its 30 volunteer bell-ringers in October due to "safeguarding issues".

The York Press has reported that Leeds bell-ringers have opted to stand by their colleagues and refused York's offer.

The Dean and Chapter have not responded to the BBC's request for comment.
