MK Dons end eighth tier Hyde's FA Cup run

It must be difficult as a manager to only be able to work with his players twice a week. The fitness levels turned out to be decisive.

Hyde manager Darren Kelly to BBC Two: "All we could ask the lads was to match their effort levels. It was a fantastic journey. We were dead on our feet after 60 minutes. Some of MK Dons' play was fantastic. They cut us open.

"In terms of heart, desire and commitment - we were there with them. We train two nights a week and they're full time. Some of their play was fantastic.

"All our home games, we've had 300 fans. Today we had 3,500. The second goal knocked the stuffing out of the players. We had a couple of half chances."

"We've really enjoyed this run. Hopefully our next league game, we'll get some more fans."

MK Dons manager Robbie Neilson to BBC Two: "It was a terrific night for us. It is a difficult place to come. Hyde were fantastic I thought, but we managed to get through.

"It gives us a bit of momentum. We had a great month before the last one. We're happy and we move on."

Mk Dons racked up 21 shots compared to Hyde's nine, with 14 on target to the hosts' three.

It wasn't just MK Dons' quality but their physicality too. Hyde looked tired. It looked comfortable for MK Dons. It was a great occasion for Hyde. They will go home with a lot of good memories.

Hyde United striker Phattharaphol Khamsuk: "Fair play to them, they are five leagues above us and it showed at times.

"We have played really well throughout the tournament, had some tough games and dug in and come out with real credit."

It's great for MK Dons' confidence. It was on the line for them tonight. Hopefully they'll take it into League One and it can springboard their season. They've changed their system and it's paid off.

Notts County are into the second round after coming from 2-0 down to beat Bristol Rovers 4-2.

And Port Vale beat Oxford 2-0.
