Reaction as Liverpool & West Ham ends all square

Slaven Bilic on West Ham's next two home games v Burnley and Hull: "Both of them are going to be very difficult games, in terms of patience, physicality and mentality. 

"We needed to get something out of those last four games [against Tottenham, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool] and we got two points. It's a big boost for us before those two games."     

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic tells MOTD a draw was a great result "especially after we conceded very early here in a difficult ground, and after we lost to Arsenal". 

He adds: "We showed a great reaction after they were one up, in the first half we were very good. I wasn't happy with the second half because I expected us to be better on the ball. In the end, well done for the players."

On Darren Randolph's mistake for Liverpool's second goal: "It's the nature of their job, when they make a mistake it is obvious. He made a mistake but after and before he showed real quality and he was crucial for us in moments when they had a chance or two." 

Former West Ham players were pleased with the point at Anfield...

Liverpool did as best they could, but you have to say for the free kick the goalkeeper was too far to his left and didn't give himself enough time to get across.

I don't think it was one of Payet's greatest free kicks. I've seen him whip one in the top corner. He only got it over the wall, he didn't find the corner. 

More from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: "Below our best? Yes that's right. Actually we had this in other games where we were ahead and clear. The situation is what it is. We had not a lot of options. In a game like this it's quite difficult to bring the young players on as substitutes.

"What you should imagine is we are the better side and we conceded two goals. We had good offensive moments but could not finish. We were always in their box but the problem is West Ham were there too. 

"Adam Lallana late in the first half, it could have been a penalty. But it is what it is. Second half, hand ball with Winston Reid. Then there was Divock Origi in the box with a challenge. They fought for everything, All the goals everyone could do better. Joel Matip couldn't react quickly for the second. Obviously we all could have done better. You have to stay strong and in the game."

Speaking of managers who have had a good weekend, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte praised his players' "passion" after the Blues extended their "fantastic" winning run to nine games with a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic, speaking to Sky Sports: "The players deserve a lot of credit. We conceded an early goal but after that we showed a great reaction and were good on the ball. In the first half, I am really happy with how we reacted. In the second half of course Liverpool come forward and we showed compactness and resilience. We got a point which is great for us.

"When you lose 5-1 at home and go to Anfield and concede early your confidence drops. But we showed character, teamwork and togetherness. We knew after these last five games we had a couple of games at home we have to win basically. Hopefully we can win them and it can help us go up the table, have confidence and a better situation. They will be hard games and we still have to show our quality, togetherness and mentality."

On Darren Randolph's error which allowed Origi to score, Bilic added: "It's the nature of his job. Apart from the mistake. he was solid and made some great saves. I am happy with him."

Sunderland are back at the bottom at the end of the weekend, and that point lifts West Ham out of the bottom three.

So it's been a good weekend for Chelsea at the top of the table. The 2014-15 champions are three points clear as we close in on the halfway point of the season.

Liverpool have scored more goals than any other Premier League side so far this season (37).

However, Watford are the only side in the top-half of the table to have conceded more goals (26) than Jurgen Klopp’s side (20).

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: "We tried everything. One West Ham goal was a free-kick and one was lucky. They were 2-1 up and we had some great offensive situation and should have more. We tried everything. We were often in the box, a lot of situations. So it's a draw we have to take it. It felt like the whole time we were were in their box. We needed a bit of luck. Draw, doesn't feel too good. doesn't feel too bad.

"Similar to last week? No, these games are not comparable. We drew. We are a good football side. The goals could have been avoided. That's how it is in football. Mixed emotions, it's still a point.

"For the first goal - don't make the foul, don't lose the ball. The second goal was unlucky. Joel Matip made a fantastic game and in this moment he couldn't clear the ball. Loris Karius was surprised and it was too late.

"Should Karius have saved the free-kick? For this I have to see it again, I only saw it in the match."

Onashile Ademola: What lesson did Liverpool learn watching Barca last week? Dropping points was invariably learnt at the Camp Nou...  

Mike Collins: Firminho and Clyne awful today, don't forget the latter's wild shot when well-placed. Overall, a poor LFC show, well done WHFC.  

Tom Luce: Top 4 for anyone, even UTD was always a possibility. I hope Liverpool can maintain it but Chelsea will run away with the title  

Liverpool striker Divock Origi: "I think we just have to cool down, evaluate the game. We let them come into the game and get the lead. Maybe our push was too late, but we gave everything. Next time we have to work harder and make the luck on ourselves.

"When you let a team lead it's always difficult. They scored a second goal, it's tough and I think we just have to stay focused. We got a point and next time must get three

"I have to be patient and on your day score as a striker. I have to keep making steps, as a team we need to regain the level we are on. We need to use this period to come back stronger."

Jurgen Klopp says that his team 'tried everything' and could have had one or two penalties.

West Ham winger Michail Antonio, speaking to Sky Sports: "We showed we have determination and grit and what happened in the past doesn't affect us. A great point away and we have to push on and build on this. I managed to finally score with my feet! If it was my head again. The celebration was (the dance move) 'Running Man'. I am sticking with the 90s theme. 

"We are working week in week out to move forward and we have to keep building. It's a massive show of character today. We have shown we have the players to do it."

Hammers goalkeeper Darren Randolph: "We battled hard and managed to get ourselves ahead in the game. But I'm upset with the equaliser. It's one of those things, it happens. We move on."

Ali-Reza Panjwani: 1 point from a possible 6 in the last two (very winnable) games. Title race definitely over. Top 4 still in the balance.  

Matt Harding: A good weekend for #mufc at last. Finding some form and points while rivals slip up. Top 4 back on.   

Imran Sheikh: A draw it is for @LFC today. Gotta do better but at least we never lost! Could have won it too!   

I thought West Ham did well considering what happened last week. It is a great point. I know Darren Randolph is disappointed because of the mistake he made, but West Ham should be pleased with the result.
