  3. BreakingBank group closure plan revealed

    The Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banking Group (CYBG) is reported to be closing 79 branches with the loss of 400 jobs. 

    The Unite union said the closures represented a third of the bank's total branch network.

    The move was described as the largest-ever closure plan by the bank.

    Unite national officer Rob MacGregor said the move would be "concerning" for local communities which would be left with less choice in banking services.

    Unite has published a list of the branches expected to close:

    Yorkshire Bank: Alfreton, Barnoldswick, Bradford West Bowling, Burton-Upon-Trent, Chadderton, Cleveleys, Clitheroe, Coalville, Crewe, Filey, Gateshead, Goole, Guisborough, Hinckley, Hull Hessle Road, Knottingley, Leamington Spa, Leeds Central, Leeds Chapel Allerton, Leeds Headingley, Leeds Woodsley Road, Leigh, Middlesbrough Berwick Hills, Newark, Normanton, Norton, Nottingham Bulwell, Ossett, Pickering, Retford, Richmond, Ripon, Royton, Sheffield Broomhill, Sheffield Firth Park, South Shields, Todmorden, Wath upon Dearne and Wellingborough.

    A list of Clydesdale branches in Scotland Unite believe will close was also revealed.

  4. Car park hole: 'No risk to public' says Environment Agency

    A hole that appeared in the car park of a Sheffield shop yesterday is being closely monitored by the Environment Agency.

    The Environment Agency says they're sending contractors to remove rubble from the hole which will reduce the risk of water from a stream beneath causing problems.

    They say that there is no further risk to the public.

  5. Leeds bomb hoax: Man arrested after 'significant disruption'

    A man has been arrested over a bomb hoax which saw a large area of Leeds city centre cordoned off, the Victoria Gate shopping centre closed and bomb disposal officers called in this morning.

    A 35-year-old man is now in custody after a police investigation.

    A controlled explosion was carried out by the army while nearby shops and offices were evacuated.

    • Queues on the M62 westbound at J28, A650 (Tingley).
    • Lane blocked between Leeds Inner Ring Road A660 and Willow Terrace Road, because of an accident.

    South Yorkshire

    • Slow traffic on A61 St Mary's Road in both directions in Sheffield
    • Queues on the A6102 Greenland Road southbound in Sheffield

    North Yorkshire

    • Slow moving on the A1079 Lawrence Street in York because of an accident
  7. Leeds bomb hoax: Man arrested

    A man has been arrested in connection with a bomb hoax in Leeds this morning.

    Bomb disposal officers were called to the Victoria Gate shopping centre at about 08:40 this morning, a large area was cordoned off and the shopping centre was closed.

    The device was declared safe around lunchtime and the area is fully reopen.

    A 35-year-old man is currently in custody.

    A man has been arrested over the incident in Leeds city centre earlier which saw roads and a shopping centre cordoned off.

  9. Have you seen this missing Bradford man?

    Have you seen Janis Graveris? He has been missing from his Bradford home for five days.

    The last sighting was last Friday, at the Sainsburys Local shop on Great Horton Road. 

    The 29-year-old is Eastern European and was wearing a brown sports jacket, blue jeans and brown leather shoes.

  10. York community stadium to go ahead

    York's community stadium will now go ahead after a legal challenge against a cinema on the development has been lost.

    A rival chain asked a judge to look at the planning decision - because the new multiplex on the site at Monks Cross will be bigger than originally approved

    But that's been thrown out this afternoon at the High Court - meaning work can now start.
