Claridge: Clement 'lucky' to get Swansea job

Paul Clement is “lucky” to be offered the job as Swansea City's new head coach, according to Steve Claridge.

The 44-year-old becomes the Swans' third boss of the season after joining from Bayern Munich, where he was assistant to Carlo Ancelotti.

But former striker Claridge believes Clement is fortunate to be offered a Premier League role, following a mediocre spell at Derby County.

"He's been in the Championship with Derby and they were absolutely farcical when he was there," Claridge told Mark Pougatch on 5 live Sport.

"He's lucky now to get that job again and he's still got an awful lot to prove."
