  1. The time has come...

Donald Trump (left) and Kanye West

...for us to say cheerie bye for another week.

The next time we meet, the United States of America will have an official new President.

And we'll be able to relive great music moments from his inauguration such as...erm.. whatshisname and...um whatsherchops.

    We're only joking of course.

Let's meet back here on Monday and see how teenager Jackie Evancho fared.

Until then scroll down for new videos from Gorillaz, Arcade Fire and Biffy Clyro, a new art project from Shia LaBeouf and Naughty Boy on his as-yet-unreleased George Michael collaboration.

Plus 5 Things We've Learned This Week, away from you know who in the White House.

  2. 5 Things We've Learned This Week

    1) European fans of The 1975 are mad/sad

    *With that band that is

    Matt Healy

The 1975 angered fans this week by postponing their entire forthcoming European tour.

Initially Matty and the lads blamed "unforeseen circumstances" for the delay which effects 16 gigs across the continent.

However it turned out they actually had a better offer and are now playing a War Child gig on 21 February when the are meant to be performing in Prague.

The game is up Matthew.  Czech mate.

    2) Glastonbury goers have a new name to get used to

    Glastonbury

    The Variey Bazaar.

Get used to it folks as that's what the Glasto team have called their new spin off festival which hits the fields from 2019.

Founder Michael Eavis caused a social media storm on Monday when he announced they had registered a new festival called The Glastonbury Festival team present the Variety Bazaar.

    Cue the noise and confusion...

However the panic subsided when daughter and fellow festival mogul Emily explained that her dad was actually on about an entirely different new event somewhere else and that Glasto's event at Worthy Farm would remain as Glasto.

Phew.  We're off to the Green Fields for a lie down.

    3) William Onyeabor is beloved by many

    William Onyeabor

Tributes came pouring in on Wednesday after the sad news broke of the death of enigmatic NigerianFunk pioneer William Onyeabor.

In his only known UK interview he told 6 Music's Lauren Laverne that: “I only create music that will help the world.”

It turns out he's also helped the likes of Talking Heads, Hot Chip and The Charlatans.

We took the advice of the latter's frontman Tim Burgess and now he's helping soundtrack our Friday afternoon too.

    RIP William.

    4) Louis Tomlinson has forgiven Zayn

    Louis Tomlinson

It seems that the One Direction beef is finally over people...after Louis Tomlinson told a US radio station that he's ready to be pals again with Zayn Malik.

In a full and frank interview, the Doncaster lad said that it was his late mum that wanted him to keep on singing, that being a dad had made him more mature (ish) and that him and Zayn had finally "got to the point were we can be happy for each other".

We love a story with a happy ending.

That's right, the Modfather himself is such a fan of pal Martin Freeman's BBC Show that he managed to wangle himself a small but crucial role.

Watch the final episode again closely on the iPlayer and you'll find a mysterious viking, lying apparently dead on the Baker Street floor.

Who was that??? you'll cry.  Well it was none other than Mr Paul Weller.

    Now that's entertainment.

  3. Shia LaBeouf gets into the inauguration spirit... kind of

Never one to let an opportunity pass to be 'artistic', everyone's favourite actor and professional kook Shia LaBeouf has launched a live-streamed piece of performance art entitled "HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US."

The work consists of a webcam placed outside New York's Museum of the Moving Image, in front of which people are invited to place themselves and say those words.

Here is Jaden (son of Will and Jada) Smith.

You can see who else turns up anytime in the next, well, four years, as the footage will be broadcast live at hewillnotdivide.us, 24 hours a day for the duration of Donald Trump's time in office.

  4. The dirty road from boyband to solo success

    Niall Horan

One Direction’s Niall Horan picked up his first ever solo gong at the People’s Choice Awards this week, being named Favourite Breakout Artist.

“Well that's something to wake up to. Thank you so much for voting for me," he wrote on Twitter.

    "I really appreciate it... amazing."

Now, he has gone on to join the ranks of other boyband stars who have gone on to solo success.

We're looking at you Zayn, Robbie and JT.

Maybe, not so much you Abz Love.

Health and safety be damned as Biffy Clyro go to town on the pyrotechnics for their new single Flammable.

The half man-half walking tattoo Scots rockers are up for best band at the Brits next month.

Hope they managed to find some shirts for the occasion. The O2 in February is no place to get your taps- aff (Scots Vernacular: Literally "tops off.")

  6. Cher stands united with De Niro, Baldwin and Moore v Trump at NYC rally

Cher and co sing at New York protest

Pop icon Cher joined thousands of others in taking to the streets of New York on Thursday to protest against incoming president Donald Trump on the eve of his inauguration.

While Donald was strutting out to the Stones in Washington DC (scroll down), the singer joined the gathered masses, including Hollywood stars Robert de Niro and Alec Baldwin as well as Oscar-winning director Michael Moore, outside the Trump International Hotel on Central Park South for the We Stand United NYC Rally.

The 70-year-old singer, who says she has lived through 12 presidents, took the stage and urged the crowd to kick back against the "arrogance" and "ignorance" of the incoming president.

"The power of the people is bigger than those [deleted swear] in Washington," she said, before apologising for her "potty mouth."

So if you think that word might offend you, don't click on the video below.

The Believe star compared the anti-Trump rally to the fight against the Vietnam war from her youth and Entertainment Weekly report that she added: "Never give up, because the thing that will help us, that will get us through this is anger.

"Otherwise, we'll be in sadness and depression."

Placards read "Fight Trump every day" and "justice and civil rights for all", while organiser Michael Moore told the crowd: "He does not rule with a mandate", referring to Republican rival Hillary Clinton winning the popular vote.

"We are the majority. Don't give up. I won't give up...He will not last four years."

Baldwin gave his popular Saturday Night Live Trump impression a run out before imploring the crowd, saying: "Are we going to have 100 days of resistance?...Fantastic!"

  7. Spike Lee drops singer from his new show over Trump gig

    Spike Lee

Oscar-nominated director Spike Lee has apparently dropped singer Chrisette Michele from his new project over her decision to perform at yesterday's pre-inauguration ball.

Writing on Instragram, Lee said he had been considering including one of Michele's songs in his upcoming Netflix series She's Gotta Have It, based on his debut film.

"I Wuz Sorry To Read That "Sistuh Girl" Is Singin' At DT's Inauguration (And To Use His Fav Word-SAD)," he wrote.

"I Wuz Thinkin' 'bout Using Chrisette's Song- BLACK GIRL MAGIC In My Netflix Series SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT.... NOT ANYMORE. And Dat's Da Truth, Ruth."

  8. Calum Scott thanks Robyn for 'completely changing' his life with Brit nomination

    BBC Newsbeat

The 28-year-old's cover of her 2010 track Dancing On My Own has been nominated for best British single.

He told Newsbeat: "For my rendition of the song to go crazy just speaks volumes about the track."

He says it feels "incredible" to be up against the likes of Little Mix, Zayn and Calvin Harris.

It's the first time a former Britain's Got Talent contestant has been nominated for a Brit.

We suspect he won't be dancing on his own for much longer after this recognition.

  9. Guess who was Soundcloud's most played track of 2016

    NME

Man listens to music on earphones

Shut the front door - it wasn't Drake.

Perhaps a little bit late to the table but SoundCloud has provided a look back at 2016 in music, revealing its top artist, album and track of the year.

The top track went, not to Toronto's finest but to Desiigner‘s viral hit Panda.

Chance The Rapper‘s Coloring Book mixtape was the most listened-to release while Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert was the most followed artist.

  10. Trump inauguration: Jackie Evancho 'honoured' to perform

    Jackie Evancho

She's only 16 and therefore not even old enough to vote in the US but Jackie Evancho says she feels "honoured" to have the chance to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the official inauguration of Donald Trump later today.

The teenager came second on America's Got Talent in 2010 and has gone on to score two top 10 albums in the US.

Evancho told Good Morning Britain: "My reason for doing this is nothing to do with politics, it's all about the honour of performing for my country."

Evancho has previously sung for current president Barack Obama.

The singer received a backlash from some fans for taking the gig but says she is keeping her mind on the job.

"I've had all sorts of reactions, I've had negative and positive and most of the time I can't really think about the negative.

"All I need is the support from my family and friends and I'm good."

They were set to work on George's next studio album as well as a song for Naughty Boy's next release.

"The song is amazing but it's just a bit bittersweet," he told Newsbeat.

"It wasn't this big music industry arrangement, I've just been a fan forever," he said.

"I wanted to work with him, it was something I put out there."

  13. Donald Trump defies The Rolling Stones ban once again

    Donald & Melanie Trump

Now Mick, Keith and co have previously demanded that Donald Trump stops using their music but that didn't stop the US President-Elect walking out to one of their tunes again at his pre-inauguration ball in Washington DC on Thursday.

Trump and wife Melanie walked down the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to the tune of Heart of Stone, as they opened up the Make America Great Again! event.

We hope the track was an ironic choice, given that it mostly features Jagger apparently boasting about his bedroom conquests.

In case you don't know here's a lyrical breakdown...

Trump previously used other the Stones hits Start Me Up and Brown Sugar on his campaign trail and closed the Republican National Convention in July with You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

The band themselves have gone to lengths in the past to distance themselves from Trump, previously saying on Twitter:

Quote Message: The Rolling Stones do not endorse Donald Trump. You Can’t Always Get What You Want was used without the band’s permission."
    The Rolling Stones

No comment from The Stones yet on this occasion but it's fair to assume they'll feel the same about this latest use of their back catalogue.

Other musicians, like soul man Sam Moore (of Sam and Dave fame) however were happy to provide the soundtrack to an evening on which Trump promised to "unify our country."

  14. The Gorillaz are back... with a Mercury prize winner

Benjamin Clementine, who scooped the prestigious award in 2014 is the guest vocalist on the first new music from Gorillaz in six years.

The queasy video for the politically-charged Hallelujah Money sees black-clad Ben in suitably mournful form standing in a lift, in what looks like the lobby of Trump Tower, into which various images are broadcast.

It's no Feel Good Inc, it's a pretty off-kilter track so if you're expecting a club banger, you might have to wait a little bit longer.

  15. Status Quo attend Rick Parfitt funeral

Order of service at funeral of Rick Parfitt

The surviving members of Status Quo remembered guitarist Rick Parfitt at his funeral in Surrey.

Frontman Francis Rossi, Parfitt's musical partner for 50 years, led members of the group's line-up past and present at Woking Crematorium on Thursday.

Parfitt died aged 68 on Christmas Eve after suffering a severe infection while in a Spanish hospital, which he had visited with a shoulder injury.

    Status Quo members

Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley was among the mourners and said Parfitt was a "terrific fella".

He added: "I've known Rick since I was 20. He is one of the nicest guys.

"The thing is, with Rick he was such a nice guy, such a lovely man - and a funny guy too, very funny."

  16. Desert Island Discs at 75: David Beckham is anniversary show castaway

    BBC Radio 4

    David Beckham with Kirsty Young

Now if he doesn't pick a Spice Girls number in this then we think there will be trouble afoot in the Beckham household.

That's as former England captain David is being cast away for the 75th anniversary celebrations of BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.

Presenter Kirsty Young said having "fascinating" Beckham as her castaway for the anniversary show was "the perfect gift".

Becks, who was spotted in the crowd at a Stone Roses gig last summer, says that music has been a "huge" part of his family's life and son Cruz even released a Christmas-themed debut single in December.

Given his old shirt number we'll be disappointed if the ex Manchester United star doesn't include any Shed Seven.

  17. Donald Trump inspires a new song by Arcade Fire

    Arcade Fire

Canadians Arcade Fire appear to have used the forthcoming presidential inauguration as inspiration for a new song called I Give You Power.

The track features Mavis Staples -  a legendary American R&B and gospel singer and civil rights activist

The opening refrain "I give you power over me /  I can take it away" could be a warning shot directed at the incoming President Trump.

The video, below, comes with a statement from the artists: "It's never been more important that we stick together and take care of each other.

"Love, Mavis Staples and Arcade Fire".
