  5. Increases in house prices

    Good news if you own a property in Rutland - house prices in the county have risen by more than 20% in the last year.

    That's the highest jump in the country and brings the average price there to about £307,000.

    In Leicestershire prices have gone up by 6.9% and in Leicester it's a 9% increase.

    Figures come from the latest UK House Price Index.

  6. 'Nasty' attack near Christmas

    The assault happened on Saturday 17 December between 01:30 and 01:40.

    Det Con Aimee Farmer described it as "nasty" and said they were keen to speak to the people in the CCTV images.

    She said: “This incident happened on the weekend before Christmas and the area was busy with people walking to and from bars and restaurants. I appreciate they are not the best quality but I believe people will be able to identify themselves, or those close to them."  

  7. Police appeal after man suffers fractured skull

    It's thought they could have some information about an assault that happened on Charles Street in Leicester.

    A 45-year-old man sustained serious injuries including a fractured skull.

  8. River search for missing man

    Police are now searching the River Soar for the missing Enderby man David Noakes.

    The 78-year-old was last seen on Tuesday morning in the town and is believed to be "vulnerable and confused".

  9. No toys in new 'Italian style' nursery

    When you think of a children's nursery, you expect there to be plastic toys and games... well not at this one.

    A nursery in Leicester is claiming to be the first in the city to be toyless.

    Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa is prepared to hand in a transfer request in the next 24 hours in a bid to resolve his future. 

    The 30-year-old and his representatives held talks with the Premier League-winning club last night, with an offer from Alaves on the table.

  17. Thousands of environmentally-friendly bags made in Leicestershire

    The morsbag movement is 10 years old this month.

    Twenty groups across Leicestershire have sewn one in three of the nearly 250,000 bags that have been made worldwide.

    Concern for the environment is at the heart of this movement - supporters claim one bag can replace around 500 plastic ones.
