  3. Sheffield hospice rated 'outstanding'

    A Sheffield hospice has been rated "outstanding" by the Care Quality Commission.

    In a report the CQC said that "St Luke’s Hospice was continually striving for excellence" and that "the hospice was extremely forward thinking."

    The hospice was also praised for how it deals with patients and their families.

  4. Sport: Sam Winnall completes move to Sheffield Wednesday

    It's now a done deal.

    Sam Winnall has completed his move from Barnsley to Sheffield Wednesday.

    He'll be available for the match against Huddersfield Town A.F.C. tomorrow.

  5. Air cleaning poem removes two tons of nitrogen oxide

    A poem printed on a special material which purifies the air has removed two tons of nitrogen oxide in Sheffield.

    The poem has been on the University of Sheffield's Alfred Denny building since 2014.

    The academics hope the technology can now be replicated on billboards around the world.

  6. E-fit released in search for Barnsley attacker

    Police have released an e-fit of a man they want to speak to over an attack in Barnsley.

    A 50-year-old man was left with a head injury after the assault on Chantry Grove in Royston at 01:30 on New Year's Day.

    Anyone who recognises the man in the e-fit is asked to call police on 101.

  7. Sheffield pubs in final three for national award

    Sheffield pubs, police and council officials are up for a national award.

    They are in the final three for the national Best Bar None competition, which awards safe pub management.

    The city will find out if it beat competitors Durham and Bedfordshire at the end of the month.

  8. Sheffield Labour MPs rule out Yorkshire-wide devolution deal

    None of Sheffield's Labour MPs say they will support a Yorkshire-wide devolution deal.

    Louise Haigh, Clive Betts, Paul Blomfield, Gill Furniss, Angela Smith and the Bassetlaw MP John Mann say they prefer the Sheffield City Region deal instead.

    They say a deal based on economic activity is the best option.

    It comes after Doncaster and Barnsley's council leaders said they wanted to "explore" a Yorkshire-wide option.

  9. Founding father of golf's European Tour John Jacobs dies

    A Rotherham man who was one of those who founded golf's European Tour has died.

    John Jacobs, who was 91 and lived in Woodseats, competed in the Ryder Cup in 1955 and captained Europe in 1979 and 1981.

    He was also the European Tour's director-general from 1971 to 1975.

  11. Man seriously injured after Sheffield pub assault

    A man's been left with a serious head injury after being hit by another man in the entrance of a Sheffield pub.

    Frog and Parrot

    The 54-year-old was attacked at 20:20 on Saturday 10 December at the Frog and Parrot on Division Street.

    Anyone with information is being asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101.

  12. Former Sheffield United player collapses on stage at awards ceremony

    Former Sheffield United player Alan Birchenall has collapsed on stage at an awards ceremony.

    He is now in a stable condition in hospital after collapsing in Leicester.

    Birchenall made more than 100 appearances at Bramall Lane in the 1960s.

    He went on to have a long career with Leicester City and is now an ambassador for the Foxes.

  13. Road re-opens after serious collision in Sheffield

    A road has re-opened after a serious crash in Sheffield.

    Back Lane closed at 09:10 after a blue BMW crashed at the junction with Hollin House Lane.
