Jools meets Stax Records legend Deanie Parker, the label's second ever - and longest serving - employee.

Deanie joined Stax in 1962 as a teenage singer and songwriter, progressing up the company ranks to become its long serving publicity manager. She is still at the company today, and was the driving force behind the establishment of the Stax Charter School and the Stax Music Academy.

Tonight she talks to Jools about her fascinating career, and picks her favourite Stax songs, with a particular emphasis on some hidden gems!

Memphis based, Stax Records is - alongside Tamla Motown - the world's leading soul music label, with stars like Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd, the Staple Singers, Booker T & The MGs and more.
