Martin Garrix says he has to be escorted in and out of his Las Vegas residency due to US alcohol laws.

Asked by Radio 1's Cel Spellman about his favourite places to DJ, the 20-year-old Dutchman said he preferred Ibiza because he's "not allowed to do anything" at his US performances.

Omnia ensures all alcohol is cleared from the DJ booth and surrounding VIP tables before he enters the club.

Martin Garrix turns 21 in May and says it's "going to be crazy".

He explained the rules around how his DJ sets work in the Las Vegas club.

"They start my intro and then I'm allowed to get in the club.

"They escort me with security and clear the entire DJ booth and the surrounding VIP tables from alcohol.

"I'm not allowed to be close to alcohol.

"As my last song is playing they kick me out of the club."

The DJ's next residency at Omnia includes dates after his 21st birthday so he will finally be allowed in the club without an escort.

He has played at the club on and off since it opened in 2015, where it was rumoured Omnia paid $500,000 (£402,250) for him and Justin Bieber to play at their opening night.

Last year Martin Garrix came ninth in the 2016 Forbes' highest paid DJs list earning an estimated $16m (£12.8m).

Fellow Omnia DJs Calvin Harris and Steve Aoki earned $63m (£50.5m) and $23.5m (£18.8m)respectively.
