England beat West Indies by 45 runs - how the match unfolded

England captain Eoin Morgan: "I've enjoyed my cricket since the Big Bash. I got some runs there, enjoy that competition and transferred it to India and now here.

"What pleased me the most in today's game was that we produced everything we spoke about before the game. We have set a benchmark and have to continue on this upward curve."

Morgan added that Ben Stokes was fit to bowl but he chose to bowl the spinners instead.

Liam Plunkett was setting up batsmen. Come round the wicket, tie them up then bowl the short ball. Intelligent bowling from England.

More from West Indies captain Holder: "If we tighten up in a few areas, limit our extras, hold our chances, I'm not too worried.

"With the batting, It was important for two of the batters to consolidate. I thought they (Mohammed & Carter) did it nicely. It was turning a bit as well. 

"Very encouraging signs, we can see a lot of promise here. It's a matter of us putting together a strong game and going forward full of confidence."

Stokes is a really rounded cricketer now. Not only has he got the talent he can work around different cricketing conditions. He's showing he is really growing into that cricketer that he is. 

West Indies captain Justin Holder, speaking to Sky Sports:  "I think we got off to a good start then we lost three wickets. I feel there were quite a few soft dismissals. All our chances - we could be a lot better.

"I thought Sam Billings played a very good innings. He took our spinners over the line. We dropped a few chances."

Buttler is someone we have grown to expect to come out in all conditions and deliver. He just couldn't find that flow today. Let's not forget this was a difficult wicket. Great to see he is still around, his glovework is terrific. 

Bairstow has been knocking on the door for a long time but Buttler has got a bit of a run. The thing with him is that there is fear from the opposition, whether he is in form or not they will always fear him.

Morgan's ability to first be patient when he started and then he accelerated. For me it showed his ability as a leader. It's a days like today where he really shone and showed why he is leading this young crop of players.

Credit to Sam Billings, he's someone who has been around for a while and everyone is expecting him to get that opportunity but when he does, he comes in he grafts. A really good 50 from him today.

West Indies did make a fight of it but the top order did not click and put pressure on the middle order. Losing by 45 runs, even if top order scored some runs they could have won this game. 

Kudos to England they played well. They kept their compsure, never lost their focus and are the deserved winners. 

A tidy performance from England, and the West Indies will rue letting England get away this morning. Eoin Morgan was excellent, as was Ben Stokes, and Liam Plunkett and Chris Woakes end up with four wickets each.

A slower delivery from Chris Woakes completely tricks Shannon Gabriel, who ends up thrusting his bat at fresh air. An excellent over from Woakes comes to an end. He recovered well from being tonked for six.

Shannon Gabriel is the last man in. An average of 2.00 across nine ODI matches.

He's quite right to review it, he has one left so why not? It looked out straight away.

Ah. Ashley Nurse has been given out lbw to Chris Woakes, hit flush on the pad by a big, full delivery. He reviews it because, well, why not?
