Grammys threatened by ‘incomparable' Beyonce says Sufjan Stevens
The Guardian

We knew already that Adele has questioned the Recording Academy's decision to snub her girl-crush Beyonce AGAIN for best album.
The Londoner's record 25 won ahead of Bey's critically-acclaimed visual LP Lemonade.
Now singer Sufjan Stevens has ramped it up a notch by accusing the Grammys of being “threatened by her [Beyonce] talent, power, persuasion and potential”.
Beyonce won two awards including the Urban Contemporary gong but was overlooked for the big three; song, record and album, which were all won by Adele.

A: It’s where the white man puts the incomparable pregnant black woman because he is so threatened by her talent, power, persuasion and potential."
It's not the first time a big Beyonce record has been overlooked for the main award as in 2013 her eponymous album lost to to Beck’s Morning Phase, causing Kanye West to famously storm the stage in protest.
In the 59-year history of the Grammys, only 10 black artists have won album of the year.
Fellow performer St.Vincent (below) has shown her support for Sufjan's comments, prompting much debate online.

Not at the same time of course...
This weekend marks a year since the public opening of the Hendrix's old pad at 23 Brook Street in London's Mayfair.
It's where Jimi moved in September 1968 and also where the German composer Handel lived over 200 years before. As such it was the first building in the UK to have two blue plaques above the door.
6 Music reporter Siobhan McAndew took a guided tour around the iconic building with event organiser Sean Doherty.

Was Adele's George Michael tribute meant to involve Beyonce, Rihanna and...Corden?
But the segment was initially intended to involve fellow pop queens Beyonce and Rihanna, as well as host James Corden.
Billboard reports, however, that it became quickly evident "how passionate Adele was... and that she had a vision for what she wanted to do with it."
According to the singer and George mega-fan: "When the video came out for that [Fastlove], I was blown away by how hot he was!
"It’s actually quite exceptional how good-looking he was.

The family didn’t want a tribute at first, and they came back and were very specific that it be me."
And they chose very wisely.
On the night Adele stopped the song after hitting a few early bum-notes, swore loudly then apologised and set about getting it right second time.
"I can't mess this up for him," she said, fighting back tears. "I'm sorry for swearing. Can we start again?
"It's George Michael - he means a lot to me."
Just as well she was on her own then... as Corden isn't a singer, Beyonce is preggers and Rhi Rhi looked busy swigging from her diamante-encrusted hip flask anyway (see below).
Rag ’N’ Bone Man isn't putting in too much of a scrappy performance this week.

Pond perform live at Maida Vale for 6 Music
Fresh over from Perth, psychadelic Aussie rockers Pond graced the Maida Vale studios with a spectacular live session for 6 Music's Marc Riley last night.
You might recognise one or two of them from their day job, where they are in Tame Impala no less.
As part-time second jobs go - this isn't half bad.
We just hope they are declaring these extra-curricular psychadelic wig-outs for tax purposes. That's all.
What Viola Beach achieved in the year following their tragic deaths
The Warrington band were on their way back to the UK when their car crashed into a raised section of a bridge and fell into a canal.
Since news broke on that fateful day, they've scored a number one album, a top 20 single and The Kooks, The Coral and Blossoms have all performed their songs
Plus they 'headlined' Glastonbury.
Newsbeat remembers them and looks back on their incredible post-humous journey.
There's a very good - ahem - chance you'd never heard of Chance the Rapper until the Grammy Awards on Sunday.
But now he's everywhere.
There was a 200% increase in his Spotify streams, reports The Fader, after winning not one... not two... but THREE Grammy Awards.
For those of you living behind a bush, they were for best new artist, best rap performance and best rap album - where he beat Kanye West and Drake, no less.
And in a bit of history-making, his album Coloring Book was the first ever streaming-only album to win a Grammy Award.
If you're still scratching your head then check out this pretty impressive performance. It has a gospel choir, you know,
We might be wrong, but there's a good chance you already knew who those two ladies were. Right?

MTV's European Music Awards to return to London
ReutersCopyright: Reuters
Well we think that we should win an award ourselves for bringing you all this relentless award news...but the latest is that the MTV European Music Awards are to be held in London for the first time in more than 20 years.
"I'm thrilled to confirm that the @MTV European Music Awards are returning to London," announced mayor Sadiq Khan on Twitter.
The event will take place at the SSE Arena in Wembley on 12 November.
The awards, now in their 24th year, were last held in London in 1996, with Oasis and the late George Michael (above) among the winners.
True story: Oasis got so settled in the pub that day though that they simply forgot to go!
It happens.
If you don't mind a bit of bad swearing then there's some footage online of Noel Gallagher confirming this. In lieu of an oasis pic here's another gang of cool dudes who were there.
Other cities to have hosted the event since its inception in 1994 include Edinburgh, Liverpool, Belfast and Glasgow.
Last year's ceremony, in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, featured performances from Green Day, Bruno Mars and Kings of Leon.
So bring it on London.
Katy Perry pops into Brits line-up

If this year's Brit Awards wasn't starry enough it just got even starrier.
Katy Perry has joined the already stellar line-up of Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, The 1975, Robbie Williams, Little Mix, Bruno Mars and Skepta to perform at next Wednesday's (22 Feb) show at London's O2 Arena.
The diva, who unveiled her new frizzy blonde look while performing next to a gigantic fence at this week's Grammys, last won the Brit for International Female Solo Artist 2009.
And she says she can't wait to "kick off a new era of purposeful pop".
Pop. With purpose. Whatever next?
What does Beyonce have to do to win best album?
NME
Getty ImagesCopyright: Getty Images
That's what everyone was thinking after Adele's mega-selling 25 beat her to the gong in the early hours of Monday morning.
Well now Adele has said it herself.
Be warned, she says so in slightly more forthright language than we've selected but the point remains.
The NME reports that Adele told journalists backstage: "I feel like it was Beyoncé’s time to win.
"My view is: What does... she have to do to win album of the year?"
She added: "I am a Beyonce stan (aka fanatic)... I remember when I was 11 years old, I was with some girlfriends, and we were practicing a song to do at an assembly.
"I probably suggested the Spice Girls, and they said have you heard Destiny Child's No No No? And I was like, ‘no, no, no.’
Quote Message: I remember how I felt hearing her voice. I fell in love immediately with her. The way I felt when I first heard ‘No No No’ was exactly the same as when I first heard ‘Lemonade’ last year.
I remember how I felt hearing her voice. I fell in love immediately with her. The way I felt when I first heard ‘No No No’ was exactly the same as when I first heard ‘Lemonade’ last year.
"The other artists who mean that much to me are all dead.”
So would a fan of Stanley Kubrick be a 'Stan stan' then? Just a thought.
Slightly late start today due to the postman blocking one of our drives with cards and gifts. Not saying which one of us mind.
While you scurry around today in search of a last minute romantic gesture (why not do a Katy Perry?) we'll bring you some big news from that lady above and mop up some more reaction to the Grammys.
Plus news of a rude awakening for Grime star Stormzy.
