Earlier we told you how UKIP MEP William Dartmouth denied involvement in a Yorkshire wind farm in a 2014 BBC interview.

Here's his response: "Had I been given proper notice of your intention to ask me about this, all this could have been made clear, but, as it was, the interviewer broke BBC Guidelines in order to ambush me - and we were at cross purposes.  

"In conclusion, during the period of time you have referred to, there are and were no wind turbines on the land.  

"I did not own the land when asked on the programme in 2014 nor do I own the land now. 

"I had no financial interest in the unsuccessful application made in 2014 for installing wind turbines and in fact lodged my opposition to the application."

A mental health care home has called a probe by Cornwall Council "unfounded, unfocused, irrelevant, and increasingly aggressive".

Bowden Derra Park in Launceston has banned investigators after the council launched a probe last month into "a number of allegations" about care.

"It has now become increasingly clear that we must take steps to protect the safety and wellbeing of the people we support from these spurious allegations, which do not relate to direct care whatsoever," said the directors in a statement.

The council could not make an immediate comment on the ban at the home which cares for 74 people with mental health needs, learning or physical disabilities.

Planners in Devon are trying to protect bats by making sure they're not threatened by new housing developments.

South Devon has one of the largest concentrations of the rare Greater Horseshoe Bat in the country - it contains 30% of the UK's population of the species.

Teignbridge Council is updating its policy on bats as a result.

The leader of Cornwall Council has said an extra £11m will be invested in adult social care next year.

John Pollard says the pressures Cornwall experiences on health services are part of a nationwide problem.

Commenting on the council's role in the NHS 'sustainability and transformation plans' Mr Pollard said they were doing "all they can" to improve care packages to help reduce pressures on hospitals.

The Marine Management Organisation has announced a new disposal site for contaminated silt from Devonport Dockyard.

For years it has routinely been disposed of in Whitsand Bay off south east Cornwall.

Tens of thousands of tonnes of waste are due to be disposed of in the coming days but they will now go to the new location, which will be known as Plymouth Deep.

Some fishermen have already expressed concern about the new site but Stop Dumping in Whitsand Bay campaigners are pleased.

A pedestrian has died after a collision involving her and a van in Penzance, Cornwall.

The woman, in her 50s, and from Penzance, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin has been informed.

The emergency services were called at 12:45 after the incident involving a Mercedes Sprinter van on Larrigan Road.

The road remains closed while officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team carry out an examination of the scene. Diversions are in place.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and asking anyone with information to contact them.

Up to £2.8m of European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) has been secured to build new high quality employment space on the Business Park at Scorrier, Redruth.

The Cornwall Business Park West will be home to a development of 14 new "hybrid" office/industrial units that will be available to small and medium-sized businesses.

A bogus NHS boss who lied about his qualifications and raked in more than £1m has been told his life was "based on a staggering series of lies".

Jon Andrewes, 63, from Totnes, misled a Somerset hospice in 2004 and Torbay Care Trust when he became chairman in 2007.

He also misled Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust where he became chairman in 2015.

Exeter Crown Court Judge Geoffrey Mercer, sentencing Andrewes to two years jail, told him: "For a period of 10 years your outwardly prestigious life was based on a lie - in fact a staggering series of lies."

"You received income you should not have received."

The home's directors David and Judith Cash said in a statement that the Cornwall Council investigators were "impacting on service users' care" and they had "suspended Cornwall Council from accessing its care provision".

A Canadian baker triumphed this weekend at the sixth annual World Pasty Championships at the Eden Project in Cornwall, the spiritual home of the pasty.

Gerry Ramier, a Canadian Army veteran from St Catherine’s in Ontario, runs the Piskie Pie Company with his wife Marlee.

As well as entering the competition, they traveled to Cornwall to visit Gerry’s mother, Melanie Lampshire, who lives in Redruth and who taught Gerry how to make pasties.

The Canadian won with a score of 96 out of 100.

New funding is to be made available in Cornwall to help make local businesses more competitive through increased use of digital technology.

It works by linking up small businesses with advisers who can help them adopt new ways of working.

The scheme is called "Superfast Business Cornwall" and is being funded by the European Regional Development Agency until March 2019.

That's right, rescue teams were called this morning to help a stag with its antlers caught in a perimeter fence on the lower sports field at the University of St Mark and St John, in Plymouth.

Crews worked with the RSPCA to "calm the animal" as best they could before it was sedated by a vet with a tranquiliser gun.

The deer was then freed using "small tools" and then released, unharmed, back into the wild.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious crash between a van and pedestrian on Larrigan Road in Penzance  

The woman pedestrian has sustained serious injuries and the road is expected to be closed for a while.

Police and ambulance were called at 12:45. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
