  8. Chris Leslie: Brexit 'looming hurricane'

    Tony Roe

    BBC East Midlands political editor

Nottingham East MP Chris Leslie has called Brexit a "looming hurricane on the horizon" and it's not mentioned in the Budget speech.

  9. Postman refuses to deliver post because of 'threatening dog'

    Sandish Shoker

    BBC News Online

The Royal Mail is no longer delivering post to one street in Bramcote because staff say a dog in one of the houses is too aggressive.

Deliveries stopped to the six houses on Dormy Close in December after a postie was chased by the loose dog, and residents now have to collect their mail each day from the local post office.

    Dormy Close

The Royal Mail says they will continue delivering post to people's houses there once the dog is secured and no longer tries to attack their staff.

There's a photo of Missy the dog in the Nottingham Post  and owner Derek Read told me: "She's a sheepdog. If she was a rottweiler or bull terrier it would be different, but she's not.

"I have tried to interact him [the postman] with the dog but he won't."

  13. Snake found abandoned in plastic box

    Sandish Shoker

    BBC News Online

A boa constrictor found abandoned in a plastic box in St Ann's - along with a dead gerbil - has had to be put down.

The RSPCA said a member of the public found the snake, which had shed its skin in the box, in Little John Walk.

The snake was surrounded by a brown sludge and was found to have a respiratory infection and an abscess on its head.

RSPCA inspector Laura Kirkham said they are appealing for information.

"Very sadly, many people buy exotic pets without thinking through the responsibility first and with little or no idea of how difficult they are to care for, which as a result can lead to them being abandoned in a callous way like this," she said.

"Ultimately it is the animal that suffers after the novelty wears off."

  17. Your questions: What does the city's cave network look like?

    Sandish Shoker

    BBC News Online

Sonal Marner used Your Questions to ask: What would the cave system look like if it was mapped in its entirety to the outskirts, including for example, Wollaton Park?

We put the question to the city council's archaeologist Scott Lomax who said there isn't just one cave system across Nottingham, but in fact hundreds of cave complexes.

He said the caves have never been joined together but here is a map of them across the city.

    Caves map

He said the main concentration of caves is in the city centre, around the medieval town (between Parliament Street and Castle Boulevard / Canal Street).

He added: "Caves do, however, extend out of the city centre, predominantly along roads including Mansfield Road, Derby Road and Alfreton Road, reflecting post-medieval and modern development of the city.

"There are some caves in suburban areas such as Old Basford, Sherwood, The Park, Sneinton and St Ann's. There is one cave beneath Wollaton Hall."

Mr Lomax said more caves were being discovered all the time so the above map will change.
