"They were waiting for set pieces but we were patient. In the end we had enough chances through our ball possession to score goals."

On Phil Foden: "He has incredible finishing and made an incredible step forward (tonight). I'm so sorry for him, he deserves to play more minutes. I'm sure he will contribute and help us more."

Harry: Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Lloris are all past their best, Aurier is a liability, Alli a shadow of his former self, and Harry Winks offers absolutely nothing. Some serious soul-searching/investment needed.

Matty: Don't panic beat red star home and away and we qualify. What's the fuss about?

RavelBleach: I wouldn't be surprised if Poch was looking for an easy exit, that Real wouldn't have to pay for.

    Mauricio Pochettino
  6. 'Every touch went in'

    FT: Tottenham 2-7 Bayern Munich

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino speaking to BT Sport: "I don't need too much time to explain. We played 30 mins well, started well, pressing high. But we were unlucky that we conceded in the first minute of the half.

"They were very clinical. After we scored the penalty for two we had chances to score the third. But from the 83rd and 88th minute we conceded three more goals.

"In football it can happen. Every single touch went in. We are very disappointed and very upset but we have to stay together. I think we are strong in our mentality.

"Maybe you are bored about my speech but football is today not yesterday. It is always is about the show. You have to do it today and tomorrow. It is not about experiences and what happened three months ago.

"We are disappointed. Every single touch from Bayern was clinical. They scored with every touch. It is tough to accept. You have to move on.

"This type of situation you have to face. It is tough and you need to be strong and keep going. Stay together, help each other and be all together. When you receive this type of result it is important to bounce back and believe in yourself. It is the only way to recover."

  7. 'You have to question Pochettino's tactics'

    FT: Tottenham 2-7 Bayern Munich

    Chris Waddle

Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I am a big fan of Pochettino and have been a fan of what he has done so far but now is the time we have to look at his tactics and question him and wonder what he is doing. Tottenham did not put any pressure on the ball and Bayern Munich just ran behind them You cannot play that style against a team like Bayern Munich.

  8. Post update

If you missed it earlier, Real Madrid were held to a 2-2 draw by Belgian side Club Bruges at the Bernabeu.

Emlyn Begley put together a report aften an 85th-minute equaliser from Casemiro spoiled Bruges' fun.

Will Shears: So Poch continues his terrible substitutions. Bring off Ndombele and get hammered and leave Winks on. Wake up and smell the coffee.

SMS Message: Steve Bruce gets hammered for getting thrashed by Leicester at the weekend. But an 11 MAN spurs team gets ripped to pieces and humiliated. pochettino must now be under the same pressure and questions surely from fans and media? That result alone should be putting his job at risk hugely embarrassing for the club. from Lewis

SMS Message: Spurs peaked last season, they will never get to the heights of last season for a long time. They aren't one of these big clubs, they only have a short time at the top before they head back down for more years of struggle. This is the descent happening. Kane will go so will Poch. from Liam in Dronfield

  10. 'Tottenham are a shambles'

    FT: Tottenham 2-7 Bayern Munich

    Chris Waddle

Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I do not get the tactics. It's not playing to their strengths. I don't think Serge Aurier wants to be there, Christian Eriksen hasn't signed a new contract. There is so much going on off the pitch. It should have been dealt with over the summer instead all the contract questions are still going on. It's a shambles. You have no idea where you stand. A club of this stature should not be like this. They have to sort it out quickly. It's a genuinely shocking scoreline.

  11. Post update

    FT: Tottenham 2-7 Bayern Munich

    Battle of the Serges.

Fair to say Gnabry fared better than Aurier.

  12. Post update

    FT: Tottenham 2-7 Bayern Munich

Mauricio Pochettino is still in a meeting with his Tottenham team. They haven't come out of the changing rooms yet.

    A proper grilling, I'm sure.

  13. 'I want Foden in the England team'

FT: Man City 2-0 Dinamo Zagreb

    Manchester City

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling tells BT Sport: "We have seen them play with the clips that the manager showed and it was difficult to break them down at times. A few did not go in but we took our chance and then got the second.

"It is always disappointing not to start but we had to be patient. I was happy to contribute to the team.

"Players that we have here, you have to read the game and the goals will come. I am buzzing for Phil [Foden] and I want him in the national team, if he keeps going he will be there."

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden: "It needed a change of tempo and Raheem brought that well. It is all about enjoying your time on the pitch and I am happy to score and help the team.

"I thought they were putting dangerous balls in the box so to seal the win meant everything.

"You have to show the manager what you can do each day in training, every young kid wants to play but you have to keep patient."

  14. Post update
