His new album is out tomorrow and you can check out the second part of our online exclusive interview by scrolling down.

Now here's a reminder of how far he's come, as a fresh-faced Ed plays one of his own personal favourites while sat aboard a boat travelling down Regents Canal almost six years ago.

A much simpler time was 2011, when he wasn't bogged down in mathematical symbols.

  7. Stormzy opens up on his battle with depression

Stormzy's 'secret' gig in Camden last week

He could have one massive reason to be cheerful on Friday - if his debut album Gang Signs and Prayer goes straight in at number - but grime star Stormzy admits that he has battled with depression.

In a frank interview with Channel Four News, the rapper said it was important for him to finally confront mental issues which he "used to dismiss" on the new record.

He said: “For me, it was a realisation of how fragile we are as humans... in the most beautiful way possible.

"In the sense where I always saw myself as this strong person who just deals with life, I get on with it - and if something gets me low, I pick myself back up. That’s always been my philosophy...

Quote Message: For a long time I used to think ‘soldiers don’t go through that’, you know? Strong people in life, the bravest, most courageous people, they don’t go through that... they just get on with it... and that’s not the case, a lot of the people I look up to - I don’t know what they’ve dealt with."

The 23-year-old South Londoner said he hopes that opening up about his demons will inspire others to confront their own problems.

He added: “I feel like I always come across confidently and happy and I’ve always made sure that I don’t promote the negative… I just present myself in a positive way so I can spread that.

Quote Message: So people will be looking at me, thinking I don’t go through nothing... so for me to just let people know, ‘no, I do. I do go through that’. I thought that was important for people to know that."

He's been urging motorists in his native Suffolk to drive safely, after one of his lyrics prompted a safety warning from police.

The singer was  pulled up by a roads sergeant on Twitter  after singing about "driving at 90" in Castle on the Hill.

Ed said the "drive safe" poster ads for ÷ will be placed around parts of his home county.

"I'm not encouraging speeding at all, I'm just singing it in a song."

    BBC 6 Music

So the party is nearly over...

While the 15th year at Green Man (scroll down) is shaping up nicely, the same anniversary at another festival this summer will mark the end of an era.

The founder of the much-loved boutique festival The Secret Garden Party in Cambridgeshire has announced that this year will be the last.

This year's festival takes place from 20-23 July and the line-up includes Crystal Fighters (pictured below), Metronomy, Toots and the Maytals and BBC Sound of 2017 winner Ray BLK.

But festival boss Freddie Fellowes has decided to bring the event to a close.

He told 6 Music that he was "proud" and "privileged" to have played a part in the changing UK festival circuit and that the party spirit of SGP will live on.

Before blowing out the candles on his cake, Chris Martin went to the trouble of bashing out a quick tracklist and message on his phone...

And it confirms that the EP will include Something Just Like This; the band's collaboration with US EDM DJ duo The Chainsmokers, which they performed live at the Brit Awards.

  16. Adele bans fireworks from her Australian shows

    Adele

Adele has banned a firework display from her debut live shows in down under after her son was apparently injured by falling debris.

The singer played in Perth's Domain Stadium on Wednesday night and told the crowd that her song Set Fire To The Rain was going to finish with a firework display.

But the visual spectacle was cancelled at the last minute.

"My son was watching (soundcheck) in the crowd…a bit of debris went in his eye so we got rid of them" she told the crowd.

Later in the gig she suggested they might return in another show on the extensive tour asking fans: "Let's get a cheer for fireworks if you want them.

"Alright, we'll do it next time," she said.

Ok...so everyone remember their places now.
