    Tonight will see showery rain spreading eastwards, clearing out into the North Sea later in the night. 

    Skies will clear from the west and the wind will ease allowing a widespread frost as temperatures drop to about 1C (34F). 

    Thursday will start fine with sunny spells, but scattered wintry showers will develop for a time with rain arriving to the south of the region later with highs of about 8C (46F).

  5. Last chance to see Leeds lit up pink

    LGBT History Month comes to an end in Leeds today, and it's your last chance to see the city lit up to mark the month-long celebration.

    A number of prominent city centre buildings including Leeds Town Hall and the First Direct Arena have been lit up pink, while rainbow flags fly at Leeds Town Hall and the Civic Hall.

    As well as February marking LGBT History month, this year also marks the passing of an important milestone - the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England:

  7. Rotherham United Community Sports Trust scoops top award

    Rotherham United Community Sports Trust has been named the North East and Yorkshire Community Club of the Year for the second year in a row.

    Judges praised the work the trust does to engage local communities, especially Muslim women, who have low participation in sport.

    The trust has now been nominated for the National Community Club of the Year Award alongside five other English Football League clubs.

  8. Selby pilot challenges jail term

    A pilot from North Yorkshire nicknamed "Biggles" who used his aerial photography business to front a £33.5m cocaine smuggling racket is appealing against his 19-year jail sentence.

    Andrew Wright, of Toad Hall, Selby, North Yorkshire, was  jailed last February  after admitting conspiracy to import cocaine.

    His lawyer claims the punishment overlooked his previous good character. 

    A decision on his appeal will be made at a later date.

  10. Leeds Co-op store workmates praised for helping to catch sex attacker

    Two Co-op store workers who helped catch a street sex attacker who preyed on a young woman have been praised by a judge for their "public-spirited actions".

  11. West Yorkshire amnesty nets 100 weapons so far

    If you have any firearms or weapons which could cause serious harm, now's the time to hand them in - no questions asked.

  12. Top v bottom as Minstermen head for Imps clash

    It's top versus bottom tonight when  York City make the short trip to Lincoln City in the National League.

    The Minstermen may have made it through to the semi finals of the FA Trophy, but Lincoln City have also wowed their fans with an FA Cup quarter final draw against Arsenal.

    Ironically, York and Lincoln will meet each other in the FA Trophy.

    York are currently bottom of the National League. Could a win tonight get them off the bottom?

  14. Price of a pint set to hit new peak?

    There's a warning we could soon be paying an extra 30p for a pint of beer to cover the cost of rising business rates.

    Sheffield Labour MP Gill Furniss (pictured), a shadow minister, says pubs would be hit with a £421m increase in their bills as a result of the government's rates re-evaluation plans

    She says: "All small businesses - many in Sheffield and Brightside, my own constituency - are in the firing line."

    Local government minister, Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy, said the criteria for rate rises had been agreed by the industry.
