The owner of a webcam which spotted a woman in trouble after she broke her ankle in Boscastle said he was happy the cam had helped.

"I love the webcam," said Ross of the Riverside Hotel.

"It was installed for visitors and friends to keep in touch with Boscastle.

"It's used all round the world and it's great that it's been used to help this particular lady."

Frankie Daves fell and broke her ankle in a remote Cornish village and was rescued because a man, sat 200 miles away in Worcester, saw her on the live webcam.

She said by "incredible luck" a man watching the webcam saw her and phoned his mother who lives in Boscastle.

Tuesday will be cold with scattered blustery showers.

A European arrest warrant has been issued by Plymouth Crown Court for Martin McDonagh, 23.

McDonagh, of Pemros Road, St Budeaux, Plymouth, was also given a criminal behaviour order after admitting a series of offences.

Proposals for parking permit zones in Penzance and Newlyn have been dropped after a public backlash.

The lack of a 'minimum safe level of staffing' has forced the closure of the only care home on the Isles of Scilly.

The Council of the Isles of Scilly said the home would close at the beginning of June.

A spokesman said: "This is a result of significant recruitment issues which mean that the service is unable to ensure a minimum safe level of staffing to meet the needs of Park House residents."

A children's doctor who has been jailed for having and sharing indecent images is "just as responsible" as those who film and take part in the abuse of children, police have said.

Jonathan Walsh, 47, of Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, and formally of Barnstaple, was arrested following a police investigation launched in September 2015.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed none of these crimes relate to patients at North Devon District Hospital.

Det Insp Andrea Kingdon from the Force Child Exploitation Unit, said: "Jonathan Walsh was working in a position of responsibility where he had a duty to protect children and young people, yet he choose to commit crimes with the possession and sharing of indecent images of children which leads to the abuse of some of the most vulnerable in our society.

"Whilst these may not have been contact offenses, the viewing and sharing of these types of images directly leads to the abuse of the most vulnerable in our society – Dr Walsh is as responsible as those who film and take part in this horrific abuse of children."

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious crash between two cars and a fuel tanker near Honiton.

Emergency services were called to Windgate Hill on Sunday morning following the crash between the 44-tonne tanker and blue Peugeot 206.

A third vehicle, a black Vauxhall Corsa was also involved.

Police said an 18-year-old woman, who was in the blue Peugeot, has serious, life changing arm injuries. She was airlifted to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, where she remains following surgery.

The man in the Corsa and the driver of the fuel tanker were both taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where they were treated for shock.

The jury in the trial of a Royal Marine accused of raping and strangling a woman in his home has retired to consider its verdicts .  

Police are "increasingly concerned" about a missing girl, 15, who was last seen on Thursday.

Charley Tilbury, from Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot, is originally from the Crawley area. However, police believe that she has travelled north and could be in Leeds in West Yorkshire. 

Charley is described as a white female, about 5’6 tall and of medium build.  She has long dark hair which is sometimes worn up. When she went missing she was wearing an electric blue top, blue jeans, a green jacket with a fur lined hood and grey trainers.

The leader of Devon County Council is launching an online parliamentary petition to get more money for schools. 

John Hart has to get 100,000 signatures before the issue can be debated again in the House of Commons.

Some schools say they are running on reserves and have increased class sizes, cut staff and reduced the number of subjects they offer. 

It comes just days before the government's consultation on a new funding formula ends .

Paediatrician Jonathan Walsh, 47, has been jailed for three years for having and sharing child sex images .  

George Thomson, medical director for Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, said: "This case has deeply shaken everybody at NDHT and we know it has been a shock to the community. 

"We have worked closely with the police throughout this case and we know that none of these crimes relate to contact offences, and none of the images relate to patients at North Devon District Hospital. 

"At the launch of the police investigation in September 2015 we took immediate action to exclude Dr Walsh from working at the trust and informed the General Medical Council. Dr Walsh was dismissed with immediate effect when he was charged in June.
