  3. Flood defence maintenance work to begin

The water level on a stretch of the River Gipping will be lowered next week, to enable the Environment Agency to carry out an inspection on a flood defence.

    Bramford Mill Gate

On Monday, the gate at Bramford Lock near Ipswich will be raised, which will result in the lowering of the water level upstream of the site from Rushbrook Mill.

A survey of the gate, which will determine its remaining lifespan, will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, before the water level is restored on Thursday.

Project manager Rebecca Bromley said: "This work allows us to inspect the flood defences and to keep them in the best possible condition to continue to protect people, property and the local environment from flooding.

"Our fisheries team will be on hand to monitor the water level and to ensure no harm is caused to fish stocks."

The 29-year-old doesn't agree with fans who fear the Blues trip to Nottingham Forest, on 7 May, will determine their future.

"I'm sure we're not going to be in that situation, when we are going to fight until the last day of the season and we are going to need the last three points of the season," said Bialkowski.

"I'm quite confident we've got so much quality in that team, and I believe in them."

Town are at home to Birmingham tomorrow followed by Wigan on Tuesday.

CCTV images have been released of a woman police would like to speak to in connection with a fraud where £12,500 was stolen from a bank account.

CCTV images of woman sought in connection with fraud

A woman went to one branch of a bank to request a new debit card and then went to another to request a new PIN, police say.

Both were sent to the account holder’s home address, without her knowledge, but appear to have been intercepted.

The new bank card and PIN were then used at branches of the bank in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket on the same day with thousands of pounds being withdrawn on each occasion.

While the customer has been compensated by the bank, police are keen to speak to the woman pictured in connection with the fraud.

    BBC Inside Out

This year is the 350th anniversary of the first ever land battle of the predecessors to the Royal Marines.

    Languard Fort, Felixstowe

The battle took place near Landguard Fort in Felixstowe.

In July 1667, about 1,500 Dutch soldiers tried to attack the port and destroy the English fleet as part of an ongoing war over trade.

But 400 soldiers led by Captain Nathaniel Darell defeated them.

Warrant Officer Jake Laidlaw, a Royal Marine veteran, was in charge of last year's parade but had no idea of the history on his doorstep until a few years ago.

"As far as we're concerned in East Anglia, he's our hero, he gives us something to celebrate once a year," he said.

Landguard Fort located on the northern side of Harwich Harbour was designed to guard the naval port of Harwich on the other side of the harbour, as well as the mouths of the Stour and Orwell rivers.

You can find out more about the anniversary and the importance of the fort tonight on Inside Out at 19:30 on BBC1 .

The programme also looks at the case of Suffolk's Lauri Love, who is facing extradition to the USA to answer computer hacking charges .

    Philippa Taylor

    BBC Local Live

One of the county's most prominent head teachers steps down today, after a 15-year spell at the King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds.

    Geoff Barton

Geoff Barton, who has been outspoken from time-to-time during his spell at King Edward's - at one time saying he'd be the last person to be dragged " kicking and screaming to be an academy head " - has praised his governors and colleagues for giving him the support to voice his opinions.

"A lot of heads don't have the privilege I have, of having governors and parents who are so supportive and so, yes, I have on behalf of colleagues, spoken out where we've needed to do so."

Last month, Mr Barton was elected to the post of General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders.

Officers attended, and the 23-year-old man from Lowestoft was arrested a short time later.

Police say they've been working with the woman, who's in her 30s, to get an account of what happened, and that inquiries are continuing.
