Portsmouth manager Paul Cook has been trying to keep his team's feet on the ground after their second successive 4-0 win after defeating Grimsby last night.

Kyle Bennett, Danny Rose and Carl Baker scored first-half goals before Kal Naismith added a fourth shortly after the interval.  

Cook insisted the team had achieved "absolutely nothing" until promotion is achieved.

A trial speed reduction is expected to affect drivers around Winchester. 

Winchester City Council has announced plans to reduce the speed on the A33 near the junctions with the B0347 after a petition was organised by residents. 

The results will then be considered by Hampshire County Council’s environment and transport councillor, Rob Humby next week.

Proposals to trial a ban on right turns out of the B3047 London Road onto the A33, and ban U-turns at the B3047 Alresford Road junction will also be considered.

Some beggars in Southampton earn £300 a day, own properties and have "nice lifestyles", a council meeting has been told.

Deputy leader Jacqui Rayment (Labour) said she was "really frustrated" that the council's efforts to deal with street homelessness had not been sufficiently effective.

She said the issues of street homelessness and begging were partly driven by government austerity and partly by people trying to increase their incomes.

A man has been charged following a robbery at a bank in Swanage.

Officers were called to Lloyds Bank on the town's high street on Tuesday afternoon following reports that a man had threatened members of staff with a knife and demanded cash. A small quantity of cash was stolen. No one was physically injured.

A 39-year-old man from Swanage has been charged with robbery and possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place.

The bus driver who died in a three-vehicle crash on Portland has been named as James Spelman. Mr Spelman's single-decker First Bus was involved in a collision with a van and car on New Road shortly before 17:00 yesterday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Portsmouth's Mary Rose Museum has been nominated in a prestigious travel industry awards scheme.

The £35m home for Henry VIII's flagship opened in 2013 and the raised Tudor wreck went on full public display last year.

The complex has been nominated in the World Travel Awards category for Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction alongside the likes of the Colosseum in Rome, Belfast's Titanic Museum and La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

A woman who was arrested on suspicion of murdering a 21-year-old man who was stabbed in the chest has been released.

Albanian national Shkelzen Dauti, known as Genny, died in hospital after he was found in the road in Gilpin Close, Southampton, in the early hours of Saturday. 

The 30-year-old arrested woman has been released with no further action. 

Two men, aged 27 and 28, held on suspicion of murder have been bailed until 12 June pending further inquiries. 

The Isle of Wight's MP has called on the prime minister to target more growth funding in rural areas like the island. 

Andrew Turner spoke today at Prime Minister's Questions, saying "... despite being in the prosperous South East, the Isle of Wight is 339th out of 379 in the UK Competitive Index.

"Will my Right Honourable Friend ensure that more growth funding is targeted at rural areas like the island with many small and micro businesses to deliver a country that works for all."

Prime Minister Theresa May responded, saying that there's already support for the island through, for example, a £183m local growth deal for the Solent. 

She went on to say: "I want to make sure that we make the best of the diverse strengths of all Britain's cities, regions and islands and I'm sure that on the island the business community and council will work together to create the best possible conditions for growth and competitiveness..." 

Our love affair with cruise ships is thriving with the number of people taking cruise holidays up again, according to trade association figures.

The latest CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) report shows a key trend is towards taking holidays that start in this country, rather than so-called fly-cruising. Almost half of the two million British people who now cruise choose to start closer to home.

But the spread of those passengers is skewed heavily towards the south east. And the average age is getting a little younger - it's now 55. It used to be seen as a retirement holiday, but Royal Caribbean in particular has spent billions on ships that appeal to families with children. 

Southampton-based P&O Cruises has done much the same. Southampton handles around two thirds of the entire UK cruise market. But today's figures are also encouraging for the smaller ports of Portsmouth and Portland.
