A man from Bradford has started a 13-year jail sentence for the rape of a schoolgirl.

Tariq Syed, 64, of Pemberton Drive was jailed at Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday after raping the girl in September 2014.
The victim's family returned to Romania unexpectedly before the trail started, officers from West Yorkshire Police flew out there to persuade them to return.
The trial began in February and yesterday Syed was convicted and sentenced for the rape and perverting the course of justice.

A 25-year-old cyclist from York has suffered serious injuries after she collided with a lorry.

The accident happened this morning at about 08:00 at the junction of James Street and Hazel Court in York.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary where she remains in a serious condition.
University and charity work to combat Parkinson's disease

A man knocked on the woman's door in Church Balk Gardens on 21 February claiming he had chased away some young people who had damaged the property.

South Yorkshire Police carried out the raid in the Balby area earlier today.
The store is not being identified becuase of the ongoing investigation.
