He returned to Rochdale, where he began his career in their youth system, from Carlisle at the start of the season.

We're welcoming students from across Greater Manchester here at MediaCityUK today as part of the BBC News School Report.
This afternoon we're joined by Year Eight pupils from Our Lady's School in Blackley. And if we're not careful they're going to be taking our jobs in a few years' time.
That's because they run a student newspaper which was launched last year.

"We had to decide what we wanted to include in the paper, and jobs were allocated, like Editor, Social Media Editor etc.
"Our mission was to give students a voice and to raise the profile of what the school was about.
"We would write stories which would then be checked and improved. It is published every term," said Annelisa.
Two of her classmates explained their motivation for getting involved.
"I get to represent my people - the emo kids at my school!" said Leander.
"And I get to write from the geek perspective," added Andreja.
"My favourite colour is purple," concluded surrealist Tayo.

Holmes Chapel residents back neighbourhood plan in referendum

Holmes Chapel residents gave an
overwhelming thumbs up
to the village’s neighbourhood plan as part of a landmark referendum last week.
L/Cpl Ronald Blackham, from Cheshire, was killed as he stormed a German-held hill in southern Italy in 1943, at the age of 22.
His remains were found in February 2014 in a shallow grave near the village of Capezzano by military historians.
His 80-year-old sister Alma Williams said the discovery had left her "speechless".

How I found my voice...
We're hosting a group of students from Gorse Hill Studios as part of the BBC School News Day here in Salford.
Gorse Hill offers an alternative education to young people away from the mainstream.
One of the students, 14-year-old Megan said:
"I used to be sat at home doing nothing but started at Gorse Hill in October. They've given me a lot of confidence.
"I used to get myself into trouble and get called the naughty child. I just had to get out of there and I was blamed for stuff even when it wasn't me."

"Here they give everybody a second chance, and treat us with more respect.
"I love singing and do that in the morning with my music tutor. Afternoons are a bit different, working towards an arts qualification.
"I also worked at a local primary school, helping children with music.
"I recently sang at the Kids in Care Awards at Lancashire Cricket Club at Old Trafford and performed Read All About It by Emili Sande in front of 250 or 300 people. Everybody was crying because it was so emotional."
Jo Lacon, director of Gorse Hill Studios, said: "Megan has developed into a much more confident and outgoing young person.
"She now feels like she has a voice - literally!"
How mainstream education is not the only answer...
All today we've thrown open the doors at MediaCityUK in Salford to students for the BBC School News Day.
This morning we're joined by youngsters from

, which offers creative programmes to young people who are not engaged in mainstream education.

Alfie, 12, said: "I first came to Gorse Hill after mainstream education wasn't working out for me any more.
"You'd have kids kicking off every day. I was in a class of Year Sixes and I got bullied and beaten up lots.
"Then I went to Gorse Hill once a week and it was a place where I could have a break and do things like dancing and art.
"I used to really look forward to it and now go there every day.
"We get to go skateboarding - there's always loads of people there.
"I now record videos and edit them. I'd love to do that in future if I can.
"One of my movies was called Gore Hill (see screengrab!) - a zombie movie shot in Gorse Hill, Manchester."
"In Year Nine I plan to go to Manchester Creative Studios where you can learn about the media, including designing video games."
Childline's smart phone app developed by Stockport pupils
Students from Poynton High School near Stockport have helped develop a new smartphone app for Childline.

The NSPCC's phone service for young people was launched 30 years ago.
The new "For me" app means the same confidential advice and support is now available via a mobile.

A50 'to partially reopen' later after road collapse
The A50, Holmes Chapel Road in Knutsford will partially reopen later with temporary traffic lights being

Rochdale footballer diagnosed with cancer for second time
Rochdale midfielder Joe Thompson has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time , having recovered from it in 2014.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been named in Gareth Southgate's England squad .
The 19-year-old was initially expected to feature for the England Under-21 side in friendlies against Germany and Denmark next weekend.
But with England forwards Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney both ruled out through injury, Rashford has been called up.
England face Germany away in a friendly before a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley on 26 March.

We're welcoming students from across Greater Manchester here at MediaCityUK today as part of the BBC News School Report.

WW2 soldier to be reburied in Italy
A young British soldier whose remains lay undiscovered in Italy for almost 75 years will finally be laid to rest.

Former England, Sunderland and Manchester City footballer Adam Johnson has lost Court of Appeal challenges against his conviction for sexual activity with a schoolgirl.
The 29-year-old was jailed for six years last March for sexually touching and grooming the 15-year-old fan.
The former footballer was refused leave to appeal his conviction and sentence in July and launched a second bid.
Three judges rejected the latest appeal and a bid to reduce his sentence.
Johnson played for Man City for two years before transferring to Sunderland in 2012.
