The Yorkshire Dales have been named the National Park of the Year.

Of course, we've always known they were something special, but now it's official after they were voted for by readers of the BBC's Countryfile magazine.

Editors say voters showed great affection for the Yorkshire Dales' wild and craggy landscape with waterfalls, hay meadows and villages made of stone.

Police have joined up with Doncaster Council to try to stop anti-social behaviour in the town after a spate of problems with quad bikes and off-road motorbikes.

Nine police orders and nine noise abatement notices have been served at Cadeby Quarry, and six at Mill Hill Road in Hatfield.

Insp Lynne Lancaster says: "Anti-social behaviour caused by the use of off-road and quad bikes is extremely dangerous not only to the community but the riders themselves.   

"The successful results achieved from the notices served aims to prevent these motorcycles or riders being active again."

The landmark Majestic building near Leeds Railway Station, which was badly damaged by fire in 2014, is set to be turned into offices.

Leeds-based property company Rushbond has unveiled its plans which will see an additional three storeys added to the top of the building.

The venue opened as a cinema in the 1920s and eventually became the Majestyk nightclub, which closed its doors for the last time in 2006.

A documentary on the fate of a man whose body was found on Saddleworth Moor  is due to be shown on Channel 4 tonight.

The Mystery of the Man on the Moor follows the police investigation after the discovery in December 2015. 

David Lytton was found poisoned and had seemingly travelled from Pakistan before his death.

The documentary follows Greater Manchester police as they painstakingly spend a year hunting for leads.

I don't know about you, but I'm loving this mini-heatwave thing we've got going on at the minute.

It's got the added advantage of making everywhere look great which, of course, isn't hard when you live in Yorkshire.

Parents in Yorkshire are being warned to check a product which prepares baby milk, after a build-up of apparent "mould" inside it.

Tommee Tippee has launched an investigation after parents complained of finding "mould" in the internal pipes of its formula feed machines.

The baby product company said it was concerned by reports of a "build-up" in the tubes of its Perfect Prep machines.

Parents have taken to social media to complain of feeling "angry" and "let down".

The Perfect Prep machine is used to make a formula feed by controlling the quality, volume and temperature of the water being used.

The company  posted a statement  on its Facebook page saying it had received comments from parents complaining the internal pipes of the machines were not clean.

It urged families who had found a similar build-up to contact the company to have the machine returned to them for examination.

Leeds is top of a list of the 20  best cultural places to live in the UK . Sorry about that Hull...

The Times has compiled the list and the paper highlights that the city is the "home to Opera North and Northern Ballet, and, aptly enough for the birthplace of Alan Bennett, a handful of innovative theatres."

It also picks out attractions like the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, near Wakefield, and the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds as assets to the city.

And not a blue painted naked bloke in sight .

A 92-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Wakefield yesterday morning.

It happened at about 11:50 on Horbury Road near the junction with Cumbrian Way when a silver Ford Fiesta hit the man while he was crossing the road.　

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries but died yesterday evening.

A man who was convicted of harassing his neighbour in a small village in the North York Moors has agreed not to return to his home there.

Kenneth Ward subjected the woman to a campaign of harassment including posing naked outside her house in Chop Gate was convicted in 2011. 

After a five-year prison sentence, he was given a court order banning him from returning home or going within a five-mile radius . 

The 70-year-old was due to appeal against the order today, but after a last-minute change of heart, has vowed not to return.

Scott Moore has agreed a week-by-week deal to stay with Bradford Bulls after he was re-bailed for a second time following his arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and theft. 

The 29-year-old former Wakefield Trinity hooker was arrested in October following a "significant struggle" in Leigh, Greater Manchester, which left an officer involved with a broken wrist.

He left Super League side Trinity by mutual consent in January and joined reformed Championship side Bradford on an initial four-game trial in February. 

He's been re-bailed until 10 April.

Rameez Raja is described as having a large build and is approximately 5ft 6ins tall.

Officers investigating a hit-and-run in Stainforth at the weekend in which a woman died are asking more witnesses to get in touch.

Susan Gravel, 62, died after being hit by a grey or silver BMW in Station Road at about 13:00 on Saturday.

Police believe the vehicle swerved behind a maroon-coloured small hatchback just before the crash and would like to speak to the driver.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested  in connection with the incident.

Yorkshire campaigners calling for more money to be invested in brain tumour research are taking their fight to Westminster today.

They're angry that just 1% of the national spend on cancer research is allocated to the disease, yet they say brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. 

Every year,16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour, but campaigners say not enough money is being spent on research to find a cure.   

Dog walkers are being urged to use a stick and flick their pet's poo into the undergrowth, rather than bagging it up .
