  1. Thanks and good night

    Bristol despondent

So, not a good night for the men of Bristol, but plenty to cheer for those in Cherry and White.

Have no fear, as mentioned, we've got plenty more live Premiership action to come across the weekend.

Until then - thanks for being with us....

  2. Still to come

    Premiership rugby ball

One game down, but still plenty of action to come across the weekend.

There's three games tomorrow just for starters, including a big derby day in the east Midlands.

    Saturday:

    Harlequins v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

    Northampton v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    Exeter v Sale (15:00 GMT)

    Sunday:

    Wasps v Worcester (14:30 BST)

    Saracens v Bath (15:00 BST)

  3. Silverware for Cherry and Whites

    FT: Bristol 14-32 Gloucester

Gloucester claim five Premiership points, but also the Rifles Cup.

Willi Heinz is all smiles as he collects the trophy and that'll be a happy Friday night for everyone connected with the club.

  4. Post update

    FT: Bristol 14-32 Gloucester

Gloucester hooker Richard Hibbard gets the man of the match award for that sterling display in the front row.

They climb a place up to eighth, two points behind seventh-placed Harlequins who are in action tomorrow.

  5. Post update

    FT: Bristol 14-32 Gloucester

    Ross McMillan

Bristol hooker on BBC Radio Bristol

It is another harsh lesson in rugby for Bristol.

  6. Full-time

    Bristol 14-32 Gloucester

Far from a classic encounter, but Gloucester won't care one bit as they are heading back up the M5 with five points.

For Bristol, it's another chastening defeat and the prospect of a return to the Championship creeps ever closer.

  7. Try (May, con Burns)

    Bristol 14-32 Gloucester

Well, there is a bonus point securing try, but it's not for Bristol, but Gloucester.

Counter-attacking move from one end of the field to the next opens up Bristol and the ball finds Jonny May with acres of space to cross over with ease and put a perfect seal on this game for the Cherry and Whites.

Billy Burns puts the cherry on the top of their performance with a final conversion.

  8. Post update

    Bristol 14-25 Gloucester

Time is up, but Bristol go searching for another try, which could claim them a vital losing bonus point....

  9. Try (Crumpton, missed con Searle)

    Bristol 14-25 Gloucester

A late, defiant score for Bristol from replacement hooker Max Crumpton as he capitalises on some missed tackles in the Gloucester line.

Billy Searle just off target with the conversion.

  10. Post update

    Bristol 9-25 Gloucester

A sense of going through the motions in the closing stages of this one.

Bristol have tries several things tonight, but none of them have clicked.

Gloucester haven't been polished, but they've been just good enough on this occasion.

  11. Post update

    Bristol 9-25 Gloucester

Many of the home supporters vote with their feet after that third Gloucester try and head for the exits.

Is that bottom-of-the-table Bristol heading for the Premiership exit along with them?

  12. Try (Ludlow, missed con Burns)

    Bristol 9-25 Gloucester

Eventually the pressure tells for Gloucester.

No stopping that maul this time for Bristol and Lewis Ludlow is the man who's got the ball under his arm as they barge their way across the line.

Billy Burns not on target with his boot though for the first time tonight.

  13. Post update

    Bristol 9-20 Gloucester

More of the same from Gloucester and this time a rolling maul gets held up three metres short.

But, Bristol have collapsed that illegally and Gloucester go for the line-out in the corner once more.

  14. Post update

    Bristol 9-20 Gloucester

Gloucester go hunting for a third try to really kill this game off, but once more Bristol hold them off inches from the line.

Richard Hibbard and Willi Heinz looked destined to get on the scoresheet, but somehow they're held up.

Eventually it's forced out of touch in the corner.

  15. Post update

    Bristol 9-20 Gloucester

Jonny May looks like he needs to visit the stitchers again as his face wound from the first half appears to have opened up again.

Plenty of claret around the England winger's mouth.

  16. Post update

    Bristol 9-20 Gloucester

I won't lie - this has been far from a classic.

Neither side has managed to get into their groove in this game yet and every time one of them threatens to do so, it's followed by a loose bit of handling, a sloppy bit of discipline or just a moment of scrambled decision-making.

  17. Post update

    Bristol 9-20 Gloucester

Pause in play as Sam Jefferies and Willi Heinz collide in a competition for a loose ball.

Bristol regather ahead of their line-out as they look to fashion a moment of brilliance to pull themselves back into things.

  18. Post update

    Bristol 9-20 Gloucester

Replays of that Burns try don't make happy viewing for Bristol's Luke Arscott. It was him who tried to slide across and intercept that Willi Heinz grubber.

But, Arscott couldn't hold on to the ball and then May and Burns capitalised.

  19. Try (Burns, con Burns)

    Bristol 9-20 Gloucester

A long wait before that Gloucester score was confirmed, but the uncertainty was over whether or not Jonny May had slipped out of touch as he intercepted a grubber kick from Willi Heinz through to Bristol's 22.

Replays show he did just stay the right side of the whitewash and offloaded to Billy Burns to run in unapposed for Gloucester's second try.

Burns adds the conversion and now it's a long way back for Bristol.

  20. Penalty (Searle)

    Bristol 9-13 Gloucester

Billy Searle takes the simple chance to add three more to his tally and Bristol claw themselves closer to parity in this one.
