    Cambridge win the 72nd women's boat race in record time of 18 minutes 34 seconds, beating the previous record set in 2015 by over a minute.

    They took advantage of a dreadful start by Oxford to claim a first win in the Women's Boat Race since 2012.

    If this is your first time tuning in to the Boat Races, here are a few handy details to get you started.

    • This year's meeting between Oxford and Cambridge universities sees the 163rd men's boat race and the 72nd women's boat race.
    • The four mile Championship Course stretches between Putney and Mortlake on the River Thames.
    • The teams compete in eight oared rowing boats, each steered by a cox who sits in the stern or back of the boat.
    • Both Cambridge crews wear light blue, whilst Oxford's wear dark blue.
