Today sees the start of something there that you really don't get the chance to see every day - portrait restoration.

A team from the National Portrait Gallery in London has descended on the Hall’s collection of famous "Kit Kat" portraits to give them and their frames some TLC.

We all have the rare chance to see them in action from now until Thursday.

  5. Pothole pressure for Yorkshire roads

    Oli Woodcock

    BBC Local Live, Yorkshire

One in six roads in Yorkshire will need to be repaired or even closed within the next five years because of potholes.

    Pothole

That's according to a major road survey out today, which also claims that each local authority has on average £5M of backlogs of road repairs to try to clear.

The study also found the number of potholes filled by councils fell by 19% in England last year, with local authorities needing £12bn to bring the roads up to scratch.

  6. Rotherham needs more childminders

Rotherham Council say the number of childminders in the area is going down, as people leave or retire, coupled with interest waning in childminding as a career.

The council wants to recruit more childminders and is offering free information sessions for prospective childminders, along with a package of free support and low cost training.

Sentencing him this afternoon, judge Andrew Stubbs QC said he'd taken advantage of her insecurity and innocence.

He said it was an abject failure of the trust parents had placed in him and the college.

The woman was discovered this morning in Roundhay Park and the area was cordoned off, but people are now being allowed to walk there again.

Detectives think she went into the water sometime between last night and this morning.

It's not yet known who she was or how she died.
