    A fine evening and staying dry tonight with clear spells at first before more cloud gradually develops. A light southwest winds. Minimum temperature of 7 deg C (45 deg F). 

    A dry and fine start to the day tomorrow with hazy sunshine in the east. Cloud increasing but staying dry for most and mild with some bright or sunny spells redeveloping in places. A little drizzle is possible for the hills.

  4. Bus driver admits causing crash that killed Sheffield teen and left friend fighting for life

    A bus driver has admitted causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving after a crash in Sheffield that left one teenager dead and another fighting for life.

    Paul Andrew Brown, 51, who worked for the First bus company, collided with Summer Seymour, 15 and her boyfriend, Jake Ford, 17, in Sheffield city centre, in December 2015.

  5. Bishop says headscarf ban 'raises vital questions about freedom of expression'

    The Bishop of Leeds says a European Court of Justice ruling that a workplace headscarf ban can be legal shows that more work needs "to be done in relation to religious literacy". 

    The Right Reverend Nicholas Baines says this "raises vital questions about freedom of expression". 

    The court says bans on the wearing of "any political, philosophical or religious sign" need not constitute direct discrimination, but they must be based on internal company rules requiring all employees to "dress neutrally".

  6. Thousands of pounds raised in Doncaster sleep-out

    More than 20 people have raised £3000 for YMCA Doncaster with their annual sleep-out event on Friday night.

    The aim of the sleep-out in the ground of St Peter-in-Chains was to raise awareness of the hardship young, homeless people endure during a night rough sleeping.

    The fundraising event saw people sleeping in DIY cardboard shelters for the night, with the money raised going to support YMCA’s work with vulnerable young people in Doncaster.

  8. Man blames sat nav after driving wrong way down M62 and injuring five people

    A driver blamed his sat-nav after driving in the wrong direction on a motorway and injuring five people in a head-on collision.

    A court heard Alan Crawshaw turned right into oncoming traffic at Lofthouse interchange after he left a slip road of the M62.

  9. Advanced resuscitation techniques couldn't save teenage kickboxer

    The Yorkshire Ambulance Service say they worked tirelessly to save the life of teenage kickboxer Scott Marsden .

    14-year-old Scott died after a kickboxing title bout in Leeds and was taken to hospital after the incident on Saturday, but  police confirmed earlier today  that he died. 

    A private events medical team was at the venue and an ambulance was dispatched along with the West Yorkshire Medic Response Team which included a doctor and a clinical supervisor trained in advanced resuscitation techniques.

  10. Get up close to the Tour de Yorkshire trophy

    It's not long now before world class cyclists will race across Yorkshire in one of the biggest cycling events in the country.

    And you can get up close and personal to the trophy - before the riders - when it goes on tour!

    Both the men’s and women’s Y shaped trophies are visiting each of the six start and finishes for a day ahead of the race weekend and plans include visits to schools and leisure centres, as well as events in host towns and cities.

  11. Tributes pour in for teenage kickboxer

    The Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League have said they're to hold a minutes silence or applause in memory of Scott Marsden.

    Scott, who also played football for Hallam JFC, died in hospital after a kickboxing bout in Leeds on Saturday.

    Mick Grant, who is from Hallam FC under 15s team, says he was undoubtedly one of the nicest, kindest boys that you could ever wish to meet.

  12. Masterplan to make Leeds Station a ‘world class gateway’ to city

    A long-term  masterplan to rebuild Leeds Station is being drawn up which will see extra platforms , new concourse areas and extra retail space as the city aims to create a “world class gateway” for visitors.

  13. Little Louis made honorary Chief Constable

    A young boy from North Yorkshire has been made an honorary Chief Constable at his dad's passing out ceremony.

    Louis, 3, was given epaulettes by North Yorkshire Police's Chief Constable Dave Jones at the ceremony. 

    His dad is a PCSO for the force and clearly little Louis seems to want to follow in his footsteps!
