Taxpayers face a £100,000 bill for a new consultation about devolution in South Yorkshire.
It comes after
a previous survey was ruled unlawful
following a legal challenge by Derbyshire County Council regarding how the consultation was carried out in Chesterfield.

The ruling last year meant that plans for a directly elected mayor for the Sheffield City Region have been delayed until 2018.
Sheffield flood defence scheme to be finished this year

A flood defence scheme along the River Don in Sheffield is set to be completed this year.
The Lower Don Valley scheme is the first of six projects being worked on since 2014.
It is hoped that they will reduce the chances of a repeat of the damage caused by the 2007 floods.

Search for witnesses after Maltby hit and run crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Maltby on Monday.
At 16:50 a red Chevrolet and a black Peugeot crashed on the A631 Tickhill Road near the colliery.

The Chevrolet ended up in a ditch, leaving the driver with minor injuries, while the black Peugeot drove off.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
Sheffield schoolboy to help Nasa fix error he spotted

A Sheffield schoolboy who spotted an error in data from Nasa could now help to fix the problem.
A-level student Miles Soloman discovered that some energy readings from the International Space Station were negative, something which is impossible.

Miles and his teacher James O'Neill reported the error to the Institute for Research in Schools (IRIS) who alerted the US space department.
The 17-year-old could now help scientists at Nasa fix the problem.

"Two Tribes" has been researched and produced by students at University Campus Barnsley, some of whom didn't have any knowledge of the strike before they started the project.

We are told the occupants of the house are safe.

They are not normally allowed to take photographs there but they have been posting pictures on Twitter, including one from the MP for Huddersfield Barry Sheerman.
A police officer has been stabbed in the grounds of Parliament prompting a lockdown.

The University of Sheffield Students' Union has been rated the best in the UK.
It's the ninth year the organisation has topped the "Good Students' Union" category of the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey .
It achieved a 98% approval rating from students.
