BreakingWoman arrested after man stabbed in Dawley
A 48-year-old man from Telford is in hospital with serious stab wounds and a 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident at a flat in Dawley this morning.
Police were called to Terrace Lodge on King Street at 01:30 and are searching the property for forensic evidence.
They say they believe the victim and the suspect were known to each other.
Castle steps in to help with parking problems
Whittington Castle
has offered parents free parking, to ease congestion around Whittington School.
The police say people living nearby have been finding drives and footpaths blocked by vehicles at drop-off and pick-up times.

Two men killed in A525 crash named
Police have released the names of two men killed on the A525 in north Shropshire last Tuesday.
They were 67-year-old Walter Dobrowolski from Ellerdine, who had been riding a motorcycle and 79-year-old Roy Bundy from Chester, who had been on foot.
An inquest into their deaths will open tomorrow.
Football: Big week for Telford's survival chances

AFC Telford United's fourth league defeat in succession has left them in relegation trouble, with just three points separating them from the National North drop zone.
But their next two games are against teams below them in the table, Stalybridge Celtic and Worcester City, and Telford manager Rob Smith said this was their "biggest week for many a year".

Severn Hospice looks for gardening volunteers
Severn Hospice is looking for volunteers to help look after its gardens this summer.
Both the Shrewsbury and Telford sites have won Royal Horticultural Society awards for their greenery.

The hospice says the volunteers don't need a high level of expertise, just the willingness to give up their time and be happy to brave the British weather throughout the year.
The singer, musician and writer Jerry Lordan has been nominated to receive a blue plaque on a building in Bishop's Castle as part of a BBC Music Day project.
Lordan wrote The Shadows' hit Apache among others.

The latest set of plaques will mark places or people who have made a significant contribution to music.
The shortlist also includes Terry Heath's Town House in Wellington and has been submitted to a national panel, chaired by Mike Read who will issue new plaques in June.
Tigers keep play-off hopes alive

Telford Tigers beat Sheffield Steeldogs 8-3 in the EPL play-offs last night.
The impressive victory in Sheffield means the Tigers remain in contention for a place at the league's finals tournament next month.
Five goals in the opening 20 minutes took the game away from Sheffield a day after Tigers' 7-0 thrashing of Peterborough.
The EPL champions now play Guildford Flames in Surrey on Wednesday.

Supersonic car studied in Telford

A supersonic car is in Shropshire this week hoping to inspire the designers and engineers of the future.
The Bloodhound is hoping to smash through the 1,000mph barrier later this year and it's spending this week at Telford College of Arts and Technology.
There will be workshops and engineering challenges for students from the college and nearby schools as well as a visit from the project director on Tuesday.
Campaign to improve breast feeding rates launched

Three fifths of women who breastfeed their babies in Telford and Wrekin have given up after two months.
Figures from Public Health England say the same is true for more than half of women in Shropshire. Two months is just a third of the time recommended by experts.
The organisation's Start 4 Life campaign says breastfeeding helps children fight infections early in life. Part of it is an interactive website designed to help new mums through their first weeks of breastfeeding.

Shropshire Muslim group speaks out against terrorism
The Shropshire Islamic Foundation has spoken out against the terrorist attack in London earlier this week, calling it "appalling and senseless".
It says it is also sent its "deepest condolences to [the murdered policeman's] family and the families of all those who lost their lives".
The group added that "at times such as these that the community needs to come together to condemn violence and hatred".
Over 500 sign up for first Whitchurch 10k
Over 500 people have signed up to take part in the Whitchurch 10k run next month.
It's the first time the event has been held in the town and registration closes tomorrow.
The event takes place on 9 April is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, which will get at least half the race profits.
