    A headteacher from Boston has told BBC Radio Lincolnshire that new funding allocation announced by the government is fairer but there still won't be enough money to cope with increased costs.

    The changes are aimed at ensuring there's no "postcode lottery" when it comes to funding schools.

    Giles Academy head teacher Ian Widdows says his school will get a bigger slice of the pie, but that the pie itself should be bigger:

  3. Villagers frustrated by low speed broadband

    We mentioned earlier that some villages in Lincolnshire are to be upgraded to superfast broadband.

  4. Watch: Humberside force commended over reform of women offenders

    The Humberside Police force is being held up as an example of how to reform and help women offenders. 

    The force is among several in Yorkshire seeing a decline in arrest rates for women over a 12-month period, according to new figures from the Prison Reform Trust .

    However, Lincolnshire Police is one of the forces seeing an increase during that same year.

    Dr Tom Guiney, from the Prison Reform Trust, has commended Humberside's efforts:

    Do you remember Lincoln Cathedral's wonky bell ringing a couple of weeks back?:

    Well all has returned to normal now, the spring which struck one of the bells has been fixed so the bells aren't quite so "wonky" sounding. 

    It cost Lincoln Cathedral £700 to repair it.

    I've been down to the cathedral to check, and all seems to be in order:

  6. Watch: CCTV of £550 Louth jewellery theft suspect

    Lincolnshire Police have released CCTV footage from a jewellery theft in which a gold chain worth £550 was stolen.

    The theft happened just after 13:00 on 7 March from the Old Maltings jewellery shop on Aswell Street in Louth.

  7. Investment pumped into Gainsborough beer festival

    A popular beer festival in Gainsborough is to get a boost after councillors offered to pay for equipment to help save the event money.

    Previously, the festival's organisers had to rent pumping equipment needed for the festival at the Gainsborough Old Hall.

    But West Lindsey's Councillor Initiative Fund has now given £2,700 to the festival so profits are pumped back into the event.

  8. Appeal after 'shameful' theft from elderly woman in Gainsborough

    An 84-year-old woman had to be treated in hospital after a struggle with a handbag thief in Gainsborough on Thursday, police have revealed.

    The incident happened at about 17:15 yesterday afternoon on Enderby Crescent in Gainsborough.

    The stolen bag had about £200 in cash in it, as well as the lady's bus pass, police say.

  9. Six new rides for Fantasy Island at Ingoldmell

    Six brand new rides will be opened at the Fantasy Island theme park in Ingoldmells this season as well as other changes, its new owners Mellors Group have revealed.

    They took over the park after it went into administration in 2015.

    The firm invested £3m into the attractions, which includes a "facelift" of the indoor market area, new mini golf and bowling facilities, and six new family rides.

  11. Cleethorpes housing estate plans rejected

    Plans for a new housing estate in Cleethorpes have been turned down by North East Lincolnshire planners.

    Residents in Old Clee have been fighting the plans for 30 new houses for more than two years, and a second planning application has now been rejected.

  12. Lincoln schoolboy's starring role in Beauty and the Beast

    If you're heading to the cinema this weekend to see the re-make of Disney classic Beauty and the Beast then you'll also see Lincoln schoolboy Harry Marcus' starring role in the film's opening song.

    In the opening song, he and other cast members sing the song Belle - and Harry's claim to fame is that he's whacked on the head by his on-screen teacher.

    He filmed his parts in the film nearly two years ago now, but says he remembers it fondly:

  13. Witness appeal over Lincoln street attack

    Witnesses are being sought by police after a man was left needing hospital treatment for his injuries after being attacked in Lincoln last month.

    The man, in his 20s, was seriously assaulted on High Street on Saturday 18 February and is being treated by police as GBH.

    It's thought the incident appears to have started as a verbal altercation between two groups near the George Centre.

    Anyone who saw the attack or has any information is being asked to contact police.

  14. Grimsby kids get free cereal thanks to charity and football club

    Thousands of boxes of cereal have been handed out to schools and charities in North East Lincolnshire. 

    The His Church charity has teamed up with Grimsby Town football club in a bid to to try and get children to eat more healthily and also take part in sport. 

    Richard Humphrey, from the His Church charity says he hopes it will "inspire" children in our region:

  15. Scunthorpe United boss to serve one-match FA touchline ban

    Scunthorpe United boss Graham Alexander will serve a one-match touchline ban after admitting a Football Association misconduct charge.

    The 45-year-old "used abusive and/or insulting language" towards an official at the end of their League One  defeat by Gillingham  on 11 March.

    Alexander has accepted the standard penalty, which includes a £1,000 fine.

    Scunthorpe, who are fourth,  conceded three late penalties  in the match to lose after they had held a 2-0 lead.

  16. Spectacular water leak in Mareham le Fen

    A water leak on the main road near Coningsby sprayed water metres into the air for over an hour before it was fixed, according to Anglian Water.

    The fountain was caused by water escaping from a high pressure leak on the A155 between Mareham le Fen and Revesby.

    Anglian Water say it was repaired quickly once the leak was reported and no one was off water as a result.

  18. North Sea haddock taken off sustainable 'fish to eat' list

    It seems there may be fewer opportunities for fisherman in our area to catch haddock. 

    Three haddock fisheries in the North Sea and the west of Scotland have been downgraded by the Marine Conservation Society who now recommend we only eat the fish occasionally. 

    Good Fish Guide Programme Manager, Bernadette Clarke, says compared to 2015 the stock numbers in 2016 were below the recommended level.

    She says this will have an impact on consumers and businesses:

  19. Superfast broadband promised for more areas of Lincolnshire

    Thousands more homes and businesses in Lincolnshire should have superfast broadband by the end of the year, it's being promised.

    The county council's working with BT to ensure that 95% of Lincolnshire is connected up. 

    Residents in rural areas of the county have raised concerns about the impact slow internet is having on their lives. 

    The council says a number of villages should be upgraded by the end of 2017, but admits there are still thousands of homes waiting for faster internet.
