Residents allowed back into fire-hit apartment block
Kevin Stanley
Reporter, BBC Radio Nottingham
Residents have been
allowed back into their homes - and while for the most part they're in
remarkably good shape, some have quite a bit of water damage.
I've spoken to a
number of people whose boilers have been temporarily condemned for safety
reasons, so although most have light, they may not have heat.
Fire
and police investigators have been here today but so far there's no word on
what caused the fire. The top two floors are still out of action, so for some
it'll be a second night away from home.
Ricky Whitworth, 24, formerly of Penn Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Connor Bowerman, 19, formerly of Welbeck Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield, and Robert Short, 19, formerly of Welbeck Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield, were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday having all been found guilty of arson reckless as to whether life was endangered.
The court heard that the trio had set fire to the First Base Bar in Low Street on September 7, 2015. The building was extensively damaged and the occupants of an adjoining flat were evacuated.
