Tonight will be mostly dry across the BBC East region, with clear spells as temperatures drop to 7C (45F).

It's a mixed bag of weather for Saturday. There'll be sunny spells and the first of those April showers, some heavy with hail and thunder.

Temperatures could reach 15C (59F).

The insolvency company working with Oliver Adams has told us that the business has ceased trading and is planning to enter voluntary liquidation next month.

Ian Cooke, from BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency, said a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) with creditors that was agreed last year failed, because "effectively [Oliver Adams] has run out of cash".

Now the company's 110 employees have been made redundant.

Mr Cooke said another company had been appointed to handle the liquidation and the asset would be sold.

Mr Cooke said having "lived in Northampton all my life" he went to see "about 100 of the employees" to explain the situation, along with officials from the Department for Work and Pensions and the Jobcentre to help the company's employees.

He said the employees were "disappointed and angry", but said efforts to save the company "just hadn't worked".

The Midsummer Meadow car park in Northampton is set to re-open this weekend.

It was closed in July 2015 as part of the widening of Bedford Road and the building work on the University of Northampton's new Waterside Campus.

The site has now been handed back to Northampton Borough Council and will open again as a car park tomorrow.

Virgin Care says its contract to run two GP practices in Northampton will finish today.

The Kings Heath and Lings Brook practices have been run by the firm since October 2010. 

The BBC understands that while Kings Heath will remain open, Lings Brook (pictured) will close.

In a statement, Virgin Care says it's "working with commissioners" to make sure patient care isn't affected by the decision.

It's not clear why the decision was made. Contracts like this are confidential, despite public money being involved, and quality of care doesn't seem to be a factor - the last inspection rated Lings Brook "good".

Lings will close after today and its patients will be registered with other practices in the same building. 

While we're told Kings Heath will remain open and a new provider found, patients I've spoken to say they don't yet feel fully reassured.

Northampton Saints forward James Craig has signed a new contract with the Premiership club, with 10 academy players also agreeing extended deals.

Second row Craig, 28, broke into the Saints side in the 2011-12 campaign and has made 65 appearances.

"He's a talented player with a good rugby brain and has played well this season," said boss Jim Mallinder.

Alex Mitchell and James Grayson, who helped England Under-20s  win the Six Nations,  are among the others to sign.

The length of the deals have not been disclosed by the club.

Half-backs Mitchell and Grayson have featured in the Northampton first team this season along with fellow academy players James Fish, Alex Moon and Devante Onojaife, who have also agreed contracts.

Josh Peters, Tom Emery, George Furbank and props Ehren Painter and Toby Trinder are the others to commit their futures to the 2014 Premiership champions.

Rutland MP Sir Alan Duncan has been speaking about the county's 20th anniversary of independence from Leicestershire.

"There's the sense of community that comes with it," Mr Duncan told BBC Radio Leicester. 

"When Ted Heath [Prime Minister] tried to get rid of it in 1972 the battle raged for 24 years until we got it [independence] back again." 

The county will mark 20 years of independence tomorrow with a series of events at Oakham Castle.

It will be another sunny and pleasantly warm afternoon across Northamptonshire.

A few brief showers are likely for some of us, most likely around Corby and the east with a high of a 16C (61F).

Yesterday it was announced the Corby Urgent Care Centre would stay open until at least the end of September, which Corby's MP Tom Pursglove described as a "very positive step forward".

The contract between Corby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Lakeside Plus, which runs the centre, was due to expire today.

After a dispute about funding, Lakeside Plus said the centre would close, while the CCG vowed to keep it open. But the two sides have now come to an agreement.

Mr Pusglove said the centre, which helps relieve pressure on Kettering's A&E, was "such a vital service" that represented "best practice" in the NHS.

He added: "I'm not concerned about who provides the service, but that the service is provided, because it is a model that works".

The Northampton Chronicle and Echo is reporting that Northampton bakery firm Oliver Adams has stopped production.

The paper says staff are currently in a meeting about the future of the business and branches are closed today across the county.

However, when I went to the branch on Mercers Row it was open.

The staff there told me they didn't know what was happening with the company and didn't know if they were going to stay open. 

They said when they arrived at the shop this morning they were able to open as normal.

We have attempted to contact Oliver Adams, but have been unable to.

Burton Latimer's Charley Hull got off to a pretty good start at the first women's major of the year .

The 21-year-old was two under after seven holes at the ANA Inspiration when high winds stopped play.

Gusts of 35mph were blowing when the players were taken off - after being allowed to finish their holes - at the event in California.

Play will resume at 15:30 BST, with almost half the field yet to complete their first rounds at Mission Hills Country Club.

Ospreys say they have received no contact from Northampton about the potential transfer of Wales' fly-half Dan Biggar.

The 27-year-old is on a  national dual contract  with Ospreys and the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).

Biggar's deal expires at the end of next season and he has been linked with a move to the Saints in 2018.

"Northampton have not been in touch," Ospreys managing director Andrew Millward told BBC Wales Sport.

"Being on an NDC [national dual contract], I'm not aware that Northampton have gone to the WRU.

"I picked it [the speculation] up on Twitter last week and apparently the signing was imminent. The reality of the situation is Dan's not come to us and said he's signed."

Politicians in the south of the county have launched a legal challenge to plans to reduce services at a hospital used by thousands of local people.

They say the consultation process carried out into the proposals for Horton General Hospital in Banbury was "confusing and flawed".

The plans put together by the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) include changes to maternity services, critical care and the use of hospital beds.

Critics say the two-stage consultation the CCG carried out left people confused about what exactly was happening to their local hospital.

An application for a judicial review into the process has been launched by the district councils of South Northamptonshire, Cherwell and Stratford-on-Avon, as well as Banbury Town Council. 

The councils must now wait to hear if the case will proceed to the High Court to be considered. A decision on this is expected next month.

CCG spokesman Richard Mccrann said it had received the letter and "will respond appropriately".

League One side Northampton Town have signed striker Leon Lobjoit from non-league Buckingham Town on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old has scored 62 goals in 36 games for the team who play in the 10th tier of English football.

He has spent time at MK Dons and Coventry City during his career and impressed on trial at the Cobblers.

"His attitude since coming in has been first class," boss Justin Edinburgh told  the club's website.

"Leon knows this is an important opportunity for him and he is determined to take it."
