Episode 3

Jools is joined by The Amazons, blues maestro Robert Cray, French singer Jain, Beth Ditto, Los Angeles artist LP and Faroe Islands singer Eivor.

Joining Jools on the third show of the series are The Amazons, who make their Later... debut. From Reading, the group are already making waves due to their riff-tastic, direct and very catchy collection of songs that they have been touring relentlessly.

Returning to the show is the US guitarist and singer Robert Cray, who has been bridging the lines between blues, soul and R&B for the past four decades, with five Grammy wins and over 20 acclaimed albums. He performs a couple of tracks from his latest project, Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm, in which the blues hall of famer travelled to Memphis with his friend, renowned producer Steve Jordan, to make a classic soul album with Hi Rhythm, the band that helped create that sound.

Making her UK TV debut is Jain, a French singer whose upbringing in Africa and the Gulf is reflected in the sound of her debut album Zanaka, which has been described as 'sun-blasted, Afro-French pop music' and has ear-wormed its way into new fans like Chris Martin and Huw Stephens.

From LA, Laura Pergolizzi, aka LP, has penned songs for the likes of Cher and Rihanna and is now making a name for herself in her own right. She'll be performing a couple of tracks from her 'Lost On You' album, including its title track which has topped charts all over Europe.

Plus a warm welcome back for the rock 'n' roll force of nature that is Beth Ditto, who has just announced her debut solo album Fake Sugar five years after disbanding The Gossip, the band that made her a global icon. Its first track The Fire suggests that Beth is back and ready to raise some ruckus.

Completing the line-up is Eivor from the Faroe Islands, who is already a prolific and successful artist in Scandinavia. Her music reconciles remote majesty of the islands with a thoroughly modern world of ethereal and emotional electronica. She performs a solo piece with a drum called Trollabundin, sung in her native language.
