    Britain's Jenson Button looks set to replace Fernando Alonso at McLaren for the Monaco Grand Prix in May.

    Alonso will miss Monaco to race in the Indianapolis 500, with full support from McLaren and engine partner Honda.

    McLaren executive director Zak Brown says two-time champion Alonso's replacement is "not in place".

    But there is no other serious option than Button, 37, who is contracted to McLaren as a reserve driver and will race barring unexpected circumstances.

  10. Dele deserved main award nomination - Pochettino

    Think a lot of you will agree with this today...

    Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Dele Alli "deserved" to be nominated for the main PFA award, as he puts in a "great performance" every week. 

    The England midfielder has been nominated for the young player award.

  11. Swansea in relegation battle with Hull

    Swansea City

    Swansea manager Paul Clement believes his side are in a two-team battle with with Hull City to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

    The Swans are 18th, a place and two points behind Hull, and Clement feels one of the two clubs will go down.

    Asked whether he sees it as a straight fight between the Swans and Hull, Clement said: "As we sit here and speak about it, yes.

    "But I don't know what the situation will be in three or four games."

  14. Griezmann should stay at Atletico - Torres

    Antoine Griezmann has "the world in his hands" at Atletico Madrid and does not need to leave the La Liga side to become a legend, says Fernando Torres.

    The France forward has been strongly linked with Manchester United.

    Ex-Liverpool striker Torres told BBC Football Focus he faced a similar juncture before a £50m move to Chelsea in 2011, but insists the 26-year-old can realise his potential at Atletico.

    "Where are you going to go to improve what you have in Atletico?" he said.

    "Not many places in the world. I hope he can stay with us forever."

  17. Sinfield 'would love' return to Leeds

    Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield says he sees himself returning to the club in some capacity in the future.

    Sinfield, 36, is the all-time record points scorer for the Rhinos and left after helping them to a domestic treble in the 2015 season.

    In August he was appointed rugby director by the Rugby Football League.

    "At some stage, I'd like to think I'd go back. I've been associated with the club since I was 13 years old," he told BBC Sport.
