  2. North Lincs park up for a top award

    Central Park in Scunthorpe is in the running for a prestigious award.

    Earlier this week judges from the Keep Britain Tidy Group descended on the town to see if the Park would be given Green Flag status.

    Central Park in Scunthorpe will have to wait until next month to hear if its been awarded Green Flag Status.

  3. Weather: More rain is on it's way

    Any lingering showers this evening will ease, with clear spells developing.

    However, further showers will start to push in from the west through the second half of the night.

  4. Tour of Britain route updated

    The route for the Tour of Britain cycling race in North Lincolnshire has been updated.

    North Lincolnshire Council says stage three of the national event will take place in the area on Tuesday 5 September, covering 172 km of the local countryside.

    The race will start at Normanby Hall Country Park and will cover the Isle of Axholme, Brigg and Barton, before the big finish near Central Park in Scunthorpe.

  5. Weather puts the brakes on any Isle of Man TT action

    There's been no chance of action today for our Lincolnshire riders at the Isle of Man TT.

    The Supersport race has been cancelled because of bad weather and won't be rearranged as there's not enough time to fit it in.

    Louth's Peter Hickman had hoped to add a fifth podium place to his tally.

  6. Warning issued over bogus callers

    Anglian Water are warning you to be vigilant against bogus callers.

    They say they've had a number of uniforms stolen in neighbouring Cambridgeshire.

    They're urging residents to always check ID when answering the door.

    A new café is opening in Lincoln with the aim of reducing food waste.

    Mint Lane Café will serve food from supermarkets that's too old to sell but hasn't exceeded its 'Use By Date'.

  9. BreakingMan jailed for possessing thousands of indecent images

    A Lincolnshire man who had more than 80,000 indecent images of children has been jailed for four years.

    Gary Davison, of Hunt Lea Avenue in Lincoln, admitted three charges at Lincoln Crown Court.

    The National Crime Agency raided the 56-year-old's home.

    Officers found so much material it took a year to complete the investigation.

    Davison was also placed on the sex offenders' register for life and given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order intended to control his behaviour after he is released from his prison sentence.

  10. Lincolnshire school taken over by academies trust

    An academies trust is taking over a fifth school in Lincolnshire.

    The Cherry Willingham Community School (CWCS) is joining the Priory Federation of Academies Trust.

    It is expected that CWCS will officially join the Trust in September, subject to final Department for Education approval after the general election.

    A senior team from the Priory will be working with CWCS headteacher Elaine Stiles, as well as with staff and students, before and during the summer holiday in order to have all the necessary plans in place for the new academic year.

    Ling Moor Primary Academy, in North Hykeham and Belvoir High School in Bottesford, near Grantham could also join the trust in the autumn.

  11. Drugs gang jailed

    A drugs gang who imported mephedrone from China to sell on the streets of Boston have been jailed.

    The gang leader Donatas Liumus from Peterborough will serve 11 years.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard that Liumus sourced the drugs - known as MCAT- directly from the manufacturer.

    A consignment of 24 kilos was delivered through courier companies.

  12. Sincil Bank... brick by brick!

    A Lego superfan has built Lincoln City's Sincil Bank stadium out of the famous plastic bricks.

    Chris Smith from Altrincham is attempting to build all 92 Premier League and Football league stadiums out of Lego.

    It's reportedly taken between 750 and 1,000 bricks to complete the Sincil Bank stadium.... that's a lot of bricks!

  13. Young Lincolnshire actor to star in the new series of Poldark

    A young Lincolnshire actor will be seen by millions this weekend.

    Harry Marcus from Lincoln is in the new series of Poldark which starts on Sunday.

    The 13-year-old plays Captain Poldark's nephew.

  14. E-fit appeal over Lincoln sexual assault

    Police have released an e-fit picture of a man they want to talk to about a sexual assault in Lincoln.

    Officers say a woman in her late teens was attacked in St Benedict's Square off the High Street at about 04:00 on Saturday 20 May.

    The man's described as being in his early 20s, of slim build and with short ginger hair.

    Anyone with information about the attack is being asked to get in touch with police.

  15. Lincolnshire rider looks for fifth TT podium place

    Louth's Peter Hickman is going for his fifth podium finish of this year's Isle of Man TT today in the second Supersport race of the week.

    Hickman took his tally to four yesterday with second place in the Superstock race and third in the lightweight race.

    Bardney's Ivan Lintin, who was fourth in the lightweight race, and David Hewson are our other local riders in action.

  17. Security boost pledge for Lincolnshire Show

    Extra security will be in place for this year's Lincolnshire Show, it's been confirmed.

    The two-day event gets under way a fortnight today at th 200-acre showground at Grange De Lings near Lincoln.

    Chief executive Jane Southall says while there's "no evidence" to suggest the show is at risk, precautions are being taken in the light of recent events in London and Manchester:

    "We will have a police presence at the show, we've introduced more CCTV cameras across the showground," she says.

    "We also have our own security company that we contract for the Lincolnshire show and there will be the possibility that we will do searches and so on."

  18. Visitors flock to Lincoln to see Domesday Book

    More than 10,000 people have been to see the Domesday Book since it went on display at Lincoln Castle last month.

    It's the first time the book, which documents medieval Britain, has ever gone on display outside of London.

    It's on loan from its permanent home at the National Archives.

    The Domesday Book, which contains two million words, was commissioned in December 1085 by Norman king William the Conqueror after his invasion of England and lists the taxable value of his new kingdom.

    It is on show alongside Lincoln's original copy of Magna Carta, a document outlining basic rights which was signed by King John in 1215.

  19. Man dies after getting trapped between car and garage door

    A 72-year-old man has died after becoming trapped between a car and a garage door in Belton, North Lincolnshire.

    The emergency services were called to a property on Westgate Road at about 12:20 on Wednesday afternoon.

    The man, who hasn't been named by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Police are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
