Central Park in Scunthorpe is in the running for a prestigious award.

Earlier this week judges from the Keep Britain Tidy Group descended on the town to see if the Park would be given Green Flag status.

Central Park in Scunthorpe will have to wait until next month to hear if its been awarded Green Flag Status.

Any lingering showers this evening will ease, with clear spells developing.

However, further showers will start to push in from the west through the second half of the night.

Winds will ease slightly though.

The route for the Tour of Britain cycling race in North Lincolnshire has been updated.

North Lincolnshire Council says stage three of the national event will take place in the area on Tuesday 5 September, covering 172 km of the local countryside.

The race will start at Normanby Hall Country Park and will cover the Isle of Axholme, Brigg and Barton, before the big finish near Central Park in Scunthorpe.

The Supersport race has been cancelled because of bad weather and won't be rearranged as there's not enough time to fit it in.

An academies trust is taking over a fifth school in Lincolnshire.

The Cherry Willingham Community School (CWCS) is joining the Priory Federation of Academies Trust.

It is expected that CWCS will officially join the Trust in September, subject to final Department for Education approval after the general election.

A senior team from the Priory will be working with CWCS headteacher Elaine Stiles, as well as with staff and students, before and during the summer holiday in order to have all the necessary plans in place for the new academic year.

A drugs gang who imported mephedrone from China to sell on the streets of Boston have been jailed.

The gang leader Donatas Liumus from Peterborough will serve 11 years.

Lincoln Crown Court heard that Liumus sourced the drugs - known as MCAT- directly from the manufacturer.

A consignment of 24 kilos was delivered through courier companies.

A Lego superfan has built Lincoln City's Sincil Bank stadium out of the famous plastic bricks.

Chris Smith from Altrincham is attempting to build all 92 Premier League and Football league stadiums out of Lego.

Police have released an e-fit picture of a man they want to talk to about a sexual assault in Lincoln.

Officers say a woman in her late teens was attacked in St Benedict's Square off the High Street at about 04:00 on Saturday 20 May.

The man's described as being in his early 20s, of slim build and with short ginger hair.

Anyone with information about the attack is being asked to get in touch with police.

Extra security will be in place for this year's Lincolnshire Show, it's been confirmed.

The two-day event gets under way a fortnight today at th 200-acre showground at Grange De Lings near Lincoln.

Chief executive Jane Southall says while there's "no evidence" to suggest the show is at risk, precautions are being taken in the light of recent events in London and Manchester:

"We will have a police presence at the show, we've introduced more CCTV cameras across the showground," she says.

"We also have our own security company that we contract for the Lincolnshire show and there will be the possibility that we will do searches and so on."

More than 10,000 people have been to see the Domesday Book since it went on display at Lincoln Castle last month.

It's the first time the book, which documents medieval Britain, has ever gone on display outside of London.

It's on loan from its permanent home at the National Archives.

The Domesday Book, which contains two million words, was commissioned in December 1085 by Norman king William the Conqueror after his invasion of England and lists the taxable value of his new kingdom.

It is on show alongside Lincoln's original copy of Magna Carta, a document outlining basic rights which was signed by King John in 1215.

A 72-year-old man has died after becoming trapped between a car and a garage door in Belton, North Lincolnshire.

The emergency services were called to a property on Westgate Road at about 12:20 on Wednesday afternoon.

The man, who hasn't been named by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
