It's been another busy day as we've reported on cyber attacks at hospitals in Hertfordshire, as well as N-Dubz rapper Dappy appearing in court.

Dr Mils Hills, who is an associate professor of risk, resilience and corporate security at the University of Northampton, has told the BBC the cyber attack on the NHS "could have been prevented".

"It's most certainly going to have come from a user clicking something they shouldn't have, whether it's in an email or on an internet browser tab," he said.

"Hospitals should have measures to prevent this.

"It will be fixed and removed, but it will cost a lot. The task to fix it won't be difficult, but will be time-consuming.

"The problem is this is a pretty low-level attack and it's causing such chaos."

An NHS Digital statement said: "NHS Digital is working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre, the Department of Health and NHS England to support affected organisations and ensure patient safety is protected."  

Hertfordshire Police has just tweeted that a sinkhole has been found in Hemel Hempstead. 

High Street Green is closed in both directions. 

Most of this afternoon's showers should quickly move away to leave a largely dry and frost-free night with clear spells across the BBC East region.

Temperatures in some spots will remain in double figures.

It’s spells of sunshine and scattered showers for Saturday, and while we can’t rule out an odd heavy downpour, there will be some places that stay dry throughout the day. 

The winds will be a light to moderate south to south-westerly with temperatures possibly reaching 20C (68F).

So far we know that all hospitals in Hertfordshire are affected by a nationwide cyber attack, but it doesn't look like any hospitals in Bedfordshire or Buckinghamshire are experiencing problems. 

Milton Keynes Hospital said as soon as it heard there were problems its IT specialists put into place measures to stop any potential problems occurring, and asked staff to be vigilant online.

The inquest into the death of inmate Michael Cameron at Woodhill Prison in Milton Keynes has found he died from suicide. 

Mr Cameron, 45, was on remand accused of attempted murder and was found hanging in his cell last April. 

He died two days later in hospital.  

The jury found: 

1. A failure to carry out procedures and reviews adequately contributed to his death. 
2. Observations carried out were inadequate - and contributed to his death. 
3. A failure to respond appropriately to risk of self-harm and suicide, and not making an urgent referral for a full mental health assessment contributed to his death.

There have been 18 deaths at the prison since May 2013.

A senior manager at East and North Herts NHS Trust has told the BBC the trust became aware of the cyber attack problems at about 11:30. 

He said patients at its hospitals were being risk-assessed, with ambulances being sent elsewhere.

He believed the problems could last all weekend and it was looking at using older phones as a form of contact.

The NHS has just released a statement about its IT failures, believed to have been caused by a large-scale cyber attack. 

It says: "A number of NHS organisations have reported to NHS Digital that they have been affected by a ransomware attack which is affecting a number of different organisations.

"The investigation is at an early stage but we believe the malware variant is Wanna Decryptor.

"At this stage we do not have any evidence that patient data has been accessed. 

"NHS Digital is working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre, the Department of Health and NHS England to support affected organisations and to recommend appropriate mitigations."

It added it doesn't believe the NHS was "specifically targeted". 

I've just had it confirmed that West Hertfordshire Hospitals has also been affected by what's thought to be a cyber attack. 

A spokesperson says Watford Hospital, Hemel Hempstead Hospital and St Albans are experiencing issues. 

They wouldn't go into any more details, but as soon as we have them we will bring it to you. 

It seems like the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust isn't the only trust affected by today's alleged attack.

The Blackpool Hospitals NHS Trust says it is also having issues with its computer systems and we believe others are having problems. 

So far we know Bedford Hospital hasn't been affected and we're waiting to hear from other hospitals in Beds, Herts and Bucks.

At today's hearing, Hatfield Remand Court heard Dappy allegedly brandished a curved knife during a heated domestic argument with his partner, Imani Campbell, on the driveway outside their Hatfield home, which they share with their 18-month old daughter. 

Christopher Daw QC, who appeared on behalf of Dappy, told the magistrates his client disputed the prosecution's version of events. 

He said Costas Contostavlos (as he's also known) had suffered a number of wounds himself during the incident.

Mark Fleckney, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said because of the seriousness of the case it should be committed to the crown court.

He said bail was opposed on the grounds that there was a risk of him interfering with witnesses in the case and committing further offences. 

Throughout the hearing Dappy held his hands together as if in prayer as his barrister argued he should be granted bail with the condition of him not entering Hatfield. 

He said he had the offer of being able to live with an aunt and uncle in London.

As he was led from the dock, he nodded to relatives and friends gathered in the public gallery.

N-Dubz rapper Dappy has been refused bail by magistrates after appearing in court today charged with assaulting his partner in Hatfield. 

The 29-year-old, who's real name is Costas Contostavlos, appeared at Hatfield Remand Court where it was told he would be pleading not guilty to assault by beating, having a bladed article in a public place and using threatening words and behaviour.

The Big Brother runner-up was told there was a risk he could commit further offences if bailed and he was remanded in custody.

He will appear at St Albans Crown Court on 9 June for a pre-trial preparation hearing.
