About 15% of their pharmaceutical exports arrive in Africa and in South Africa the availability of generic anti-retrovirals (ARVs) from India has led to a significant drop in the cost of treatment for millions of people with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (Aids).
