The story of a trailblazing group of young poets from Yorkshire has inspired a new play which is now to get its premiere.

Leeds Young Authors travelled to America to compete in an International Poetry Slam contest - and their journey is the basis for Ode to Leeds which begins this evening.

It seems that North Yorkshire Police's "new approach" to prevent sheep theft is to attach a police officer to each sheep.

Finance insurer CPP is to move its HQ from York to Leeds, a change which could see about 50 people lose their jobs.

A spokesperson for the firm has told the BBC that 30 staff will go to Leeds - that's out of a total of 260 who work there.

Another 50 jobs could go because the firm is changing the way it works and increasing the number of workers overseas.

The company says the move has nothing to do with Brexit and comes after the company sold its head office at Holgate Business Park last month.

A pop-up choir is helping to raise awareness of air pollution in Sheffield.

Members of the group - all of whom have lung problems - have sung at Graves Health and Sports Centre today as part of Breathe Easy Week.

Government figures from 2015 ranked Sheffield as the fifth most polluted city in the country.

Have you seen Paula Pickles? She's been missing from her Bradford home since last night.

Fifty-five-year-old Paula was last seen at her home in Idle at about midnight last night.

Police say they're concerned for her welfare as this behaviour is out of character.

The Todmorden Agricultural Show is set to move from Yorkshire to Cliviger, near Burnley, after 150 years.

The show's former site is unavailable for this year's event due to drainage problems.

The annual event takes place on 17 June.

Half York's park and ride bus routes will soon be covered by electric vehicles, including new double-deckers, City of York Council has confirmed.

As well as the new type of bus being tried out over the next month, passengers are also being promised that contactless payments for fares are due to be brought in.

This comes after a seven-year deal was signed between City of York Council and the bus company First.

It happened in the early hours of Sunday 28 May outside Tiger Tiger in Albion Street.

A 25-year-old victim ended up with injuries to their face which needed surgery.

A fire at a bed factory in Batley last night was started deliberately, according to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

Two lorry trailers were at the centre of the fire at Lazy bed on Soothill Lane, the fire service says.

People around the area reported hearing loud bangs as the huge plume of smoke rose into the sky.

At its height, about 20 firefighters tackled the blaze.
