    Celtic are one of 12 clubs pursuing the signature of Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts.

    The 20-year-old spent 18 months on loan at Celtic Park, winning the treble last season, and is expected to leave City permanently ahead of the new season.

    Nice, Porto and clubs from England and Germany are also keen on signing the England Under-20 international.

    Celtic's latest offer is believed to be considerably well below City's valuation of Roberts.

    British great Sally Gunnell has been reflecting on her rivalry with American Sandra Farmer-Patrick ahead of this year's World Championships in London.

    Back in1993, Gunnell and Farmer-Patrick fought out one of the most thrilling finishes in the championships history as Gunnell repeated her victory from the Barcelona Olympics the year before, beating her rival by five hundredths of a second as both went well inside the world record.

    "It was massive," she told BBC Sport.

    "She was on my thoughts every training session. She was why I trained on Christmas Day because I thought she wouldn't be. We didn't speak very much and when we did there were arguments, she accused me of hitting her over a hurdle in 1991, it went on for years.

    "The psyching out before races was completely aimed at me. In the athletes village, the call room, races before. I had to learn to accept it and it was hugely healthy in terms of pushing me on."

  5. Maguire off to Leicester

    Leicester City have signed Hull City defender Harry Maguire in a £17m deal.

    The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year deal and will link up with his new team-mates in early July before their pre-season training camp in Austria.

    Maguire told the Foxes' website: "There were a number of clubs interested, but when I met the manager here, he pretty much swayed it into the direction of this club.

    "Leicester are on the up and it looks very promising for the future."

  6. Pickford completes Everton move

    Jordan Pickford has completed a £30m deal to move to Everton on a five-year deal from Sunderland.

    The 23-year-old appeared 29 times in the Black Cats doomed fight against relegation last season and the move makes him the third most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

  7. Salah's agent in London - report

    Liverpool's lengthy pursuit of Roma winger Mohamed Salah could be nearing a conclusion according to the Daily Mirror.

    The Egyptian international's agent posted a picture from the inside of a London taxi on Snapchat, suggesting that he is in the country for talks.

    The Mirror say Liverpool will have to meet an asking price of £35.5m for the 25-year-old.

    Bacary Sagna - released by Manchester City at the end of last season - is struggling to reach agreement with Marseille over his wage demands according to a report in La Provence reported by Get French Football news.

    West Ham and Crystal Palace have apparently been interested in the 34-year-old without backing up their interest with firm offers.

    Para table tennis news now and Paralympic champion Will Bayley has won gold at the PTT Bayreuth Open in Germany.

    Bayley reached the final of the men’s class 7 singles without dropping a set and then defeated Ukrainian Maksym Nikolenko, who had replaced him as world number one earlier this month, 3-2.

    There was also gold for Ross Wilson in the men’s class 8, again in five sets, while Martin Perry took bronze in the men’s class 6, losing to Frenchman Bastien Grundeler 17-15 in the decider.

    India have lost their first wicket against Bangladesh at Edgbaston. Shikar Dhawan has gone for 46 from 34 balls to leave his side on 87-1 in the 15th over, needing a further 178 to reach Sunday's final against Pakistan.

  15. 'Derby turn down Huddersfield approach for Ince'

    Sky Sports report that Derby have turned down a bid of £7.2m for 25-year-old attacker Tom Ince from Huddersfield.

    Ince has scored 38 goals in 117 appearances for the Rams since signing from Hull for £4.75m in 2015.

    The 22-year-old right winger comes with a pricetag of around £15m however.

  17. Pochettino relishing new season

    Tottenham have a tricky start to the Premier League season in August as they bid to continue their improvement from third in 2015-16 and second last term. The Lilywhites travel to promoted Newcastle on the opening day and then host Chelsea at their temporary Wembley home.

    Manager Mauricio Pochettino says: "This is a moment for our players to enjoy their holidays and try to recharge the batteries, but for us, we are thinking about starting the season in the best condition.

    "I am always positive about the fixtures. It is true, the Premier League is a tough start but I am sure the fans will be excited for that as well."

    Next up for Spurs is a match against Paris St-Germain in Orlando on 23 July.

  18. Wisdom on the move to Derby

    Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom is set to move to Derby in a £4.5m deal according to the Daily Mirror.

    The 24-year-oid - who spent last season on loan at Red Bull Salzburg - has never featured under current Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp, but racked up 22 appearances under predecessor Brendan Rodgers.

    Wisdom spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Pride Park, playing 38 games as the team fell short of the Premier League promotion with defeat by QPR in the play-off final.
