Competitors alternate between three minute rounds of chess and three minute rounds of boxing.

For the chess bits they have to make a move within 10 seconds to prove they're not stalling, so luckily they can remove their boxing gloves.

Matches can be won from either discipline from check mate, a knock-out or on points. Anyone who fancies a go can contact OPEN in Norwich - there's a taster session on Bank Plain later today.

West Norfolk CCG's chair Dr Ian Mack said: "We are delighted to be bringing forward these proposals to our Governing Body for developing our local adult acute mental health services.

"We have been working closely with NSFT and look forward to being able to improve what can be offered within the local area."

  6. Plans for £4m mental health unit in King's Lynn

    Nic Rigby

    BBC News

Plans for a 16-bed mental health unit in Chatterton House in King's Lynn - which will be refurbished at the cost of £4m - have been put forward by the local mental health trust and the clinical commissioning group (CCG).

    Fermoy Unit, King's Lynn

It will replace the Fermoy Unit (pictured) on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site in King's Lynn.

The new unit would offer en-suite single room facilities for men and women with a variety of mental health conditions, such as depression and bipolar disorder.

One of the beds would be reserved for patients discharged from the general hospital who are awaiting onward referral for a mental health condition.

The Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment teams (CRHT) - also currently at Fermoy - would move onto the Chatterton House site.

Pauline Davies, the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust's West Norfolk locality manager, said: "Every patient would benefit from a modern, en-suite bedroom, and the ward will also meet single sex criteria.

"Our new day treatment service, or an alternative to admission service, will also be hugely valuable, as it will give clinicians more choice about the best way to continue supporting service users to meet their individual needs."
