More council houses are to be built by Bristol city council.

They'll be built in Ashton Vale. 130 new homes are planned for the site.

Over 50 will be council houses, while the rest will be sold to fund other developments around the city.

Actor Johnny Depp has apologised for remarks he made about US President Donald Trump in a speech at the Glastonbury Festival.

Depp told People magazine it was in "poor taste", did not "come out as intended" and was only meant to amuse.

Depp had asked the crowd: "When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?"

Trump supporters condemned the actor and the White House described his comments as "sad".

They may be no bigger than a matchbox, but two new arrivals at Bristol Zoo Gardens are VIPs as they're some of the rarest turtles in the world.

The Bourret's Vietnamese box turtle species is critically endangered.

The pair are currently being looked after by zookeepers but once they're big enough they'll join the other turtles at the zoo.

David Beckham says he's excited and "slightly nervous" about his visit to Glastonbury - his first ever music festival.

He's at the site with his son Brooklyn, but says he won't be camping in a tent.

A man whose sexual partner died after he left him tied up with a gas mask on his face has been found guilty of manslaughter.

Dohoon Kim, 36, was found dead on the bedroom floor after meeting friend Kevin Adams, 52, at Mr Adams' home in Swindon for sex in June 2015.

Bristol Crown Court heard the pair had taken drugs before engaging in "extreme" sexual activity.

Adams was found guilty of gross negligence manslaughter.

Demolition work has started at the Royal United Hospital in Bath to make way for a new £16m outpatient centre.

The Old Pharmacy Building at the front of the hospital and the former Blue Badge car park are being cleared, ready for construction to begin in September.

Along with a hydrotherapy pool, gym and therapeutic garden the purpose-built centre will also include new clinical areas to "improve the patient experience".

It's expected to be completed by spring 2019.

Police are appealing for witnesses after two people broke into the home of an elderly woman as she lay in bed upstairs.

They got into the house in Lawrence Weston in Bristol last night by smashing a patio window with a paving slab.

They then searched the property in Rockingham Gardens - including the bedroom she was lying in.

They stole a black jigsaw carrying case.

Police are now carrying out additional patrols in the area to reassure residents.

It's the first time England will have played at the County Ground in 34 years.

Fire union officials say an empty fire control centre needs to be filled to prevent more public money being wasted.

The unoccupied building in Taunton has now cost more than £16m in charges.

It was one of nine planned regional centres, but computer problems led to the project being scrapped in 2010 and it was never opened.

Tam McFarlane, from the Devon and Somerset Fire Brigades Union, called it a "scandalous waste of taxpayers' money".

Yesterday it was Johnny Depp - today's it's David Beckham who has been spotted in and around Glastonbury.

As Glasto 2017 kicks-off, Beckham joined its founder Michael Eavis and Eavis' grandsons Noah and George to dig some dirt and officially open a social housing project.

Built on land donated by Eavis, Maggie’s Farm is a development of affordable homes near Pilton.

The properties are to be rented out to local families and workers at Worthy Farm in the months leading up to the festival.

Travellers have moved onto fields off a residential road in the Stockwood area of Bristol.

Up to 25 caravans are reported to have arrived at the site next to Craydon Road.

It's the fourth time travellers have taken over the fields in the last two years.

Work to install a ditch to prevent travellers from entering the site was due to begin next week.
