Jamie Murray and Martina Hingis are a break up in the second set against the all-British duo of Ken Skupski and Jocelyn Rae.

On herself to make that step to win the tournament:

"Quite honestly I think I was in with a shot of winning the tournament. On the day Venus played better than me. I've got a lot more to improve on. Exciting for me and my team. I definitely don't see why I won't be a position to win a title like this one."

Whether she has improved during this tournament?

"I was very happy with the level I was able to produce day in and day out for two weeks. The way I stayed true to my own values. I stayed very happy and stayed enjoying the journey."

On Williams serving 106mph on her second serve to save a break point:

"It took my break point chance away. It showed why she's a five-time champion. That was one of the few opportunities I had and she took them away."

On Venus Williams:

"She did what she does well. She dictated from the first ball of the match to the last. She showed why she's a five-time champion. It was hard to get a foothold in the match. The few opportunities I got she did well to take them from me.

On her final opponent, Garbine Muguruza:

"I've never played her on grass. That will be a different factor. I'll see what's working. I haven't really seen her matches at the tournament. I'll have to see what happens in the final."

Are you playing the best tennis of your life?

"I've played some good tennis in different points of my life. It's good to have the opportunity to play well. Experience can go for you or against you. It's going for me.

Comparing her nerves now to playing her first match 20 years ago:

"I don't think I can be as nervous as I was in my first match 20 years ago."

"This year has been amazing in terms of my play. I'm excited about being in another final. I try to take it a step further.

"It's about betting on myself every time. When I look at the person across the net it's not the right mentality to think they are better than me."

On ups and downs:

"In sport you have injuries and illnesss and won't be at 100%. When I walk out on court I try to compete on that day."

Martina Hingis and Jamie Murray are justifying their status as the top seeds in the mixed doubles.

Women's singles finalist Venus Williams is speaking to the gathering media.

On opponent Konta:

"She played an amazing tournament. It's such a tough match against people in form. She will have an opportunity. She's played an amazing match against me. It's always well contested between the two of us."

This was the moment of victory. And defeat.

Venus Williams will play Garbine Muguruza in Saturday's final. The American leads their head-to-head 3-1, but lost the most recent meeting, going down 6-2 3-6 6-2 in Rome earlier this year.

Meanwhile over on Centre Court, Ken Skupski and Jocelyn Rae have seen off three set points to recover from 0-40 in the latest game.

However they are far from out of the woods yet, Martina Hingis and Jamie Murray serve for the opening set next.

Venus started to target the forehand so much in the rallies - she kept breaking down the Konta forehand more and more.

The women generally have improved their serves but don't use the hand enough - everyone has also improved the return of serve but now they need to improve the action of the serve.

Johanna Konta hit seven aces to Venus Williams' one.

Her first-serve percentage was higher as well - 68% compared to 66%.

But the Williams serve really set her fair when it landed. The American won 79% of points when it went in.
