Tonight will see a dry night with variable amounts of cloud and some clear spells. Feeling warm with light winds.

Then Saturday will be fine and dry with spells of sunshine and temperatures inland around 28C (82F). It'll be a few degrees cooler on the coast with an on-shore wind.

Then Sunday will be even hotter, with a possible high of 30C (86F). The sea breezes will make it more comfortable on the beach where temperatures will again be a few degrees lower.

With inland highs of 32C (90F), there could be a few isolated thundery showers too.

That's the new name for the League Cup, in case you're wondering.

Ipswich Town are away to Luton Town in the first round which takes place in the week commencing Monday, 7 August.

An impressive field of National Hot Rod drivers has been assembled for the big race, which falls just two weeks before they contest their world championship final on the same track.

Dean Cox with Spedeworth Motorsports says there are often mixed emotions on the grid as a result.

"It's a marmite meeting for a lot of drivers," Cox told us. "Some of them want to take part and get some valuable track time, while some don't want to come near it in fear of damaging their cars."

"That said, we have quite a large turnout this weekend, and with conditions tomorrow set to be similar to what we'll get during Spedeweekend, many are using this as a marker."

"We also have around 60 BriSCA F1 Stock Cars competing tomorrow and that really will be some race as this is their only chance for track time ahead of their own final in September."

Some 400 free tickets are being made available for an orchestra concert in the Blackfriars NCP multi-storey car park in Ipswich town centre.

It's part of the Aldeburgh Festival - and the concerts by the Multi-Story Orchestra are at 14:00 and 16:00 on Saturday, 24 June.

A spokesman said it was part of the festival's drive to provide an "experience to people who don’t normally go to classical music concerts".

The free tickets are only available to residents of Ipswich with a maximum of two per person. They're £5 for non-residents.

It is now nine wins from nine home meetings this season for Ipswich Witches, who beat Berwick Bandits 56-37 in last night's Championship Speedway at Foxhall.

Captain Danny King (pictured), Kyle Newman and Justin Sedgmen were all paid for double figure scores as the Suffolk side were barely troubled by a depleted Bandits line-up.

"We're in a good place," King said. "We've had some good teams come here so far this season and we seem to be holding our own all of the time."

"There were a few mistakes tonight but we were still comfortable which shows you how much strength in depth we have."

"However, those mistakes can't happen on the road if we're to stay in the hunt for the title."

The Witches remain in second place in the table, and visit leaders Edinburgh Monarchs tonight.

This evening, and for the second time in as many weeks, Ipswich Witches and Edinburgh Monarchs meet in a top of the table speedway clash.

It is the Monarchs who currently occupy first place in the Championship, but the Witches are hot on their heels following last night's ninth successive home win over Berwick Bandits at Foxhall.

Danny King, who captains the Suffolk side, scored a full maxiumum last night after winning all four of the heats he entered.

The British Champion believes the Witches can continue their fine form in the scottish capital tonight.

"I rate our chances everywhere we go and I truly believe we can get something from every meeting," King said. "The minimum aim for us has to be a point."

"There is still a long way to go this season but I feel really comfortable with the position we are in, especially when you consider the injuries we've had."

Staff at Suffolk County Council will be offered free park and ride for six months in a bid to encourage them to use the service.

The trial will start on 1 August.

The council said it means the number 38 shuttle bus, which costs the council £73,000 a year and is funded from the same staff parking charges, will stop running on 28 July.

The money will be diverted to encourage staff use of the park and ride service.

Aidan Dunn, from the authority, said: "Over the later summer and autumn, additonal colleagues may be in from Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council and from the NHS, they are all going to be sharing Endeavour House with us.

"It's going to put more pressure on car parking and Suffolk's roads.

"If we can encourage staff to park at the park and ride, that'd be great."

Probation services in Suffolk are "not good enough", inspectors have said.

The HM Inspectorate of Probation report has said staff at the Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC) needed to do more to protect the public, particularly in domestic abuse cases, and they needed a greater focus on keeping children safe.

It said the work from the National Probation Service (NPS) with higher-risk offenders in Suffolk was also poor overall.

Inspectors said more needed to be done to protect the public in domestic abuse cases and more done to safeguard children.

Dame Glenys Stacey, HM Chief Inspector of Probation, said: "Suffolk is not being served well enough by probation services.

"Staff are working hard but still, the quality of work is poor overall. I am particularly concerned that neither organisation is protecting the public enough in most cases, and that domestic abuse victims and children are particularly at risk."

Ipswich Town are close to agreeing deals for 2 more players, and both could be finalised later today.

Striker Joe Garner (pictured), who is getting married this weekend, agreed terms with the Blues earlier this week.

It is believed that Town will pay Scottish Premiership side Rangers close to one million pounds for Garner's services.

In addition, Ipswich appear set to sign Kosovan winger Bersant Celina on a season long loan from Manchester City.

We've had news just in that there are delays over the Orwell Bridge near Ipswich.

A car has broken down on the eastbound carriageway of the A14, blocking one lane.

Suffolk Police said it has run out of petrol and is being towed to the nearest layby.

The former BBC correspondent and ex-independent MP Martin Bell has been critical of some for of the television rolling news coverage of the Grenfell Tower block of flats fire in London, which has killed at least 17 people.

Mr Bell, who grew up in Suffolk, was responding to footage of people, who may now be dead, waving from windows.

"It reminds me a little bit of the 9/11 attacks where there were images of people throwing themselves from upper floor windows," he said.

"I don't want to bring in a regime of censorship, but I'd like the broadcasters to take a hard look at their practices.

"There are so many networks and channels and journalists milling around now and I note that there's been a certain amount of anger directed against them.

"We should be a little more careful of being respectful to the victims."

There are hopes a former airbase could become a "mini Elstree" in Suffolk.

Bentwaters Park in Rendlesham has recently been used by many film and TV productions, including the Fast and Furious movie franchise and Top Gear.

Company director Sarah Brown said they have applied for planning permission to build a sound stage.

She said: "We're never going to be competing with the film studios around the M25 because of our location but I think we could attract lighting companies, set-build companies.

"Once we've built it, we hope they will come. If we get several big productions in here, we're hoping other businesses will then move in and we will become a little bit of a mini Elstree in Suffolk."

Greater Anglia has said extra trains will be running tonight over and above additional services after last night's "chaos".

As we've been reporting, Take That fans faced misery last night after they left the concert at Carrow Road.

There were reports that the station was "rammed", trains were "packed solid" and little information was given to passengers waiting at Norwich Station.

Greater Anglia said there were additional services, last trains were re-timed and trains were made longer but the numbers were higher than expected.

Kerri Worrall, from the rail company, said: "We knew the trains were going to be very busy but the crowds were very large.

"We will source additional trains for tonight and we will see if we can find another train to go to from Norwich to Ipswich. Buses will be on standby again.

"Our team at Norwich station will be doing everything they possibly can to manage those crowds well and look after people and make sure they get people away from Norwich station as quickly as they possibly can."

Suffolk hockey players George Pinner and Harry Martin both started for England in last night's World League Semi Final match with China, which England won 2-0.

It was the opening fixture of the competition for both sides, with England back in action again tomorrow when they face Malaysia.

The tournament, which is being held at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London serves as a qualifier for next year's World Cup at the same venue.

Pinner was recently named as one of three new captain's of both the England and Great Britain sides, while Martin (pictured) has not long returned home after a successful spell with Hoofdklasse Hockey League side Rotterdam.
