These beautiful poppies were taken down at The Silk Mill, in Derby yesterday as they prepare to make their way to the next location as part of their UK-wide tour.

The Weeping Window exhibition was first seen at the Tower of London and commemorated those who died in World War One.

There are still long queues on the M1 north between junctions 29A Chesterfield and 30 for Sheffield following the lorry fire.

City of Derby swimmer Adam Peaty set a new World Championship record as he successfully defended his men's 100m breaststroke title in Budapest.

The 22-year-old Olympic champion, who also set a World Championship record in qualifying, clocked 57.47 seconds.

Peaty, who won gold in Rio last summer in a world record 57.13, told BBC Sport: "You aim for world records, but they are world records for a reason."

The tournament, which has traditionally been held in January and February, will move to June and July from 2019.

Research compiled by the Press Association found that the Foxes had seven African players playing 9,116 Premier League minutes last season.

No other team in English football's top flight relied as heavily on African players.

Two of Sandra Bainbridge's daughters were speaking following the publication of a report that concluded a mental health trust let down their mother and her killer.

Andrea Cutler, who has a long history of mental illness, was detained indefintely under the Mental Health Act following the killing in Belper.

Helen Dixon (pictured left), added that her mother's death had impacted on the lives of all their family.

Highways England has now reopened two of the four lanes but there are still lengthy tailbacks.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and the police were called at about 10:10 to a 40 tonne lorry which caught fire.

A diseased dog, abandoned and tied to a chicken wire fence, could have "strangled himself," the RSPCA said.

Protection officers from the animal charity said the lead the black Patterdale cross was tied to in Hamilton, Leicester, was so short he was unable to move.

He was also suffering from a flea allergy and demodectic mange which has left him with bald patches on his tail, back legs and neck.

"This is a horrible case of abandonment of a very poorly dog who could have strangled himself the lead was so short," Inspector Richard Durant from the RSPCA said.

The dog was found on Friday on Sandshill Avenue and is currently recovering at Woodside Animal Centre in the city.

There are still severe delays on the M1 north five hours after a lorry fire between Chesterfield and Sheffield earlier.

Specialist equipment is at the scene to clear the debris but with only one of four lanes open there is an estimated hour-and-a-half delay.

The lorry was carrying recycled waste and caught fire at about 10.20 this morning. It's not known when the road will fully reopen.

Armed robbers forced their way into a pub and threatened staff with knives before making off with a haul of cash.

Detectives are investigating the raid on the Brewhouse and Kitchen on Nottingham's Trent Bridge at about midnight last night.

It's thought the three masked robbers fled along the Embankment towards The Meadows area.

An NHS report has highlighted failings by a mental health trust that led to a woman under its care killing a stranger.

The report concludes Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust let down not only the victim, Sandra Bainbridge (pictured above), but also Andrea Cutler, the woman who killed her.

Ms Bainbridge, 70, was stabbed to death at her cottage in Belper after returning from holiday in December 2013.

Cutler, who then continued to live at the cottage as a squatter after the stabbing, has been detained indefinitely under the Mental Health Act.

The report's conclusions include the fact that there were no comprehensive reviews of Cutler's care, poor sharing of information about the dangers of her mental illness and a lack of a long term strategy regarding her care.

Two of Ms Bainbridge's daughters, Helen Dixon (pictured left) and Lele Bobeszko, were in Derby to see the publication of this report and said their mother's death still impacts on their life.

Ms Dixon told BBC East Midlands Today: "It haunts our dreams, it affects our life, family life and our careers."

This is the aftermath of the lorry fire that's caused major delays on the M1 northbound between junctions 29a for Chesterfield and 30 for Sheffield.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service is still dealing with pockets of the fire within the load area of the lorry.

Highways England has said the motorway is expected to clear by 17:30 this evening.
