You may normally thing of it as something you do at a county fair on a muddy field somewhere - but it's also a competitive sport taking a lot of training.

And, it appears, it's something that Lincoln does very well...

This weekend the city's team is in Poland representing GB in the World Games.

They're competing in the 700kg category - and are hoping to beat the bronze medal they were awarded last year.

Police in body armour have raided a property in Lincolnshire after complaints of "drug activity" in the area.

There's growing concern about the number of cyclists being killed in collisions across East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

Figures from Safer Roads Humber show there was a 41% increase in serious injuries and deaths involving cyclists between 2011 and 2016.

Cycle groups are now calling for a radical overview of how roads are laid out and how bike riders are treated:

A Lincolnshire seafood processing company has been fined £100,000 after one of its employees fell 7m while painting.

Virginius Kurselis was standing inside a box held up by a fork lift truck which tipped forward, seriously injuring him. He spent four weeks in hospital as a result.

Lincoln Crown Court was told Mr Kurselis had been given no training prior to the incident at the Fishgate Ltd factory, near Market Rasen, in July 2013 - and that no-one was supervising at the time.

The firm denied a charge of failing to discharge a duty of health, safety and welfare of an employee.

The company, which is currently in administration and was not represented in court, was also ordered to pay about £20,000 in costs.

More than 700 lots from the home of Nigel Marshall, who died earlier this year, are due to go to the highest bidders.

A total of 45 women in Lincolnshire have been identified in the past two-and-a-half years as having undergone female genital mutilation (FGM), the NHS has revealed.

None of them received FGM in the UK, the majority live in the south of the county and none of the cases involve children, according to health managers.

Lincolnshire has low numbers of FGM compared with urban areas such as London.

The practice is illegal in the UK and it is compulsory for family doctors, hospitals and mental health trusts to report any new cases in their patients.

Country shows are a bit of a staple when it comes to living in Lincolnshire and one of the best is celebrating its 150th anniversary this weekend.

Heckington Show is thought to be the biggest in the country and they've got another bumper weekend lined up.

A lack of doctors means health bosses are struggling to fill staffing rotas this weekend at Lincoln County Hospital's A&E, it's emerged.

The start of the peak holiday season coupled with a national lack of doctors and agency staff means special measures are having to be taken at the hospital.

Pilgrim Hospital in Boston is also "still experiencing difficulties", according to NHS bosses, although it's still meeting its minimum staffing requirements.

People are being asked to stay away from Lincoln's A&E unless it's a genuine emergency.

The resort director of Butlins in Skegness says the county's tourist industry needs to know where it stands on employing EU migrants.

Doctors are advising people in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire to get tested for chlamydia.

It's after Yorkshire and the Humber region emerged as one of the areas with the highest detection rates of the disease in the country.

That's according to figures released by Public Health England, which also place Hull first for rate of detection in the area.
