  1. Four-year-old boy assaulted in park

    A four-year-old boy was treated in hospital for a bruised face after being assaulted in a Leamington Spa park, police say.

    The boy had an apple thrown at him by a teenager who was part of a group in Whitnash Park on Tuesday 25 July.

    The offender made off after the incident.

  3. Disabled rider bids to reach Everest base camp

    A rider with cerebral palsy says his attempt to be the first disabled person to reach Everest base camp on a horse will be "massively difficult" and will take his body to the "extreme limits of its endurance".

    Max Stainton, 26, from Leamington Spa, will attempt the climb to 5,500m (18,000ft) on a Nepalese pony.

    He said his condition made it difficult for his body to retain heat and he was unable to walk without assistance.

    Mr Stainton hopes his endeavour will help him raise £50,000 for the Riding for the Disabled charity's new National Training Centre in Warwickshire.

  4. Armed police called to 'gun' incident

    A group of youths were issued a police warning last night after officers were called to the city centre following reports of a man seen in a car with a handgun.

    Armed officers attended the scene in Cross Cheaping, near the Burges in Coventry, at about 19:30, police said.

    They found a group of male youths who said they were "messing about" with a BB gun that had been passed between them.

  6. 'Fuel can and charcoal burner caused van fire'

    The fire we told you about earlier that left two people with serious burns was started when a fuel can was opened close to a lit charcoal burner, the fire service said.

    The two men were hurt when a van caught fire on Gerrards Road, Shipston-on-Stour, shortly after 20:00 on Thursday.

  7. Meghan Beesley added to GB squad for World Championships

    North Warwickshire athlete Meghan Beesley has been added to the Great Britain squad for next month's World Championships.

    It will be her third time competing in the compeition and she will take part in the 400m hurdles.

  8. One taken to hospital after M42 crash

    The driver of a car involved in a crash with a lorry on the M42 has been taken to hospital, the ambulance service said.

    The man in his 50s, thought to be suffering from head injuries, was removed from the car with the help of the fire service.

    All lanes have just reopened but severe delays remain in the area.
