  10. Post update

18:20: Pinsent Masons Handicap Hurdle (2m ½f)

You'd think that the Grand National is the climax of the Aintree meeting but there is one more chance for the conditional jockeys and amateur riders to take centre stage in the final race of the 2018 meeting.

Michael's Mount is well-fancied but the French challenger Maquisard could be one to watch.

  12. Blaklion is alright

He fell at the first fence earlier but his jockey confirms there was nothing too serious.

  13. A dozen finish

Twelve of the 38 horses finished.

All jockeys returned back to the weighing room.

  14. Russell's nervous moment

Tiger Roll won, but there was a nervous moment on the 19th fence as jockey Davy Russell nearly came off, but luckily he held on, and managed to take his horse to the front and to victory.

  17. Tiger Roll wins dramatic Grand National

Irish challenger Tiger Roll won the Aintree Grand National in a photo finish after holding off a late surge by Pleasant Company.

The 10-1 chance, ridden by the experienced Davy Russell, who had never won the race before, surged clear of the rest of the field late on.

Tiger Roll tired on the run-in as Pleasant Company (25-1) and David Mullins moved to challenge.

But he managed to hold on to secure victory for trainer Gordon Elliott.

It is a second win in the race for Elliott, who guided Silver Birch to victory in 2007, while he also trained the third-placed finisher Bless The Wings (40-1).

The Irish completed a clean sweep of the top four with Anibale Fly (10-1), while Bryony Frost, one of three female jockeys in the race, had an excellent run on Milansbar in fifth.

  18. Post update

Saint Are, who was ridden by Ciaran Gethings, is now being checked out in the stables after earlier being assessed out on the racetrack.

  19. 'One of the dudes'

Tiger Roll wins the Grand National

"One of the dudes of the weighing room" is how winning jockey Davy Russell is announced to the crowd at the presentation of the trophy.

Don't think he will mind too much.

  20. 'I felt sick after crossing the line'

Tiger Roll wins the Grand National

David Mullins, jockey on second-placed Pleasant Company speaking on BBC Radio 5 live: "We were probably a bit too keen and I quite fancied him to win. I thought I was beat before then but I had to charge Davy Russell down.

"I felt sick after a couple of seconds of crossing the line but that's racing."
