  1. Onto the semi-finals

    FT: France 21-5 Ireland

    So here's your semi-final line-up:

    • Pool B winners England play pool C winners France (17:00 BST)
    • Pool A winners New Zealand play the best runner-up USA (19:45 BST)

We're back on Tuesday 22 August for those games.

Thanks for those who popped in to read my marathon live text.

And I hope to see you next week.

    Goodnight!

  2. 'First half let us down'

    FT: France 21-5 Ireland

Ireland captain Claire Molloy speaking on ITV:

"Credit to France, they ran around us in the first-half and we let them in too easily. We had too much of a mountain to climb and the French defence held strong.

"It's disappointing but we will have to build from that. We are delighted we got the try at the end."

  3. Full-time

    France 21-5 Ireland

Ireland finish with a flourish but it's France who are through to the semi-finals with a classy performance in Dublin.

They go on to face England, who beat USA 47-26 earlier in the day, in Belfast next week.

But USA also sneak through to the semi-finals as the best-placed runners-up - a tough task lies ahead though as they meet New Zealand in the last four.

  4. Try - Moloney, missed con Tyrrell

    France 21-5 Ireland

    Or not.

Ireland eventually get on the board through replacement Cliodhna Moloney.

Finally something to cheer for the Irish.

    Ireland get a try.
  5. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

One last effort then from the Irish, who've spent the entire second 40 in the French half.

Katie Fitzhenry fizzes a ball out to the left wing but it flies past two Irish players and into touch. That's that then.

The luck has not been with the Irish this evening.

  6. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

    France number 8 Safi N'Diaye

But this has been a masterclass from the French, who have shone in attack, and put in a flawless defensive effort led by number eight Safi N'Diaye.

And after a sunny day in Dublin, the heavens have opened and the rain sweeps ferociously across the stadium. But it's a bit too late for the Irish.

  7. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

After an exhilarating first 40, this half has been a bit flat.

After four tries before the break, France have played a controlled game and let Ireland throw the kitchen sink at them, without any success.

Ireland are back in possession and they'll keep going to the end - even if it's in a sideways direction.

Paula Fitzpatrick can't find a way through on the far side as France slow the ball down.

    And Heather O'Brien knocks on.

  8. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

So with 10 minutes left to play here in Dublin, it's France who are on their way to a semi-final clash with England in Belfast.

The scoreboard hasn't changed this half - it's been all Ireland but the hosts have lacked injection and pace - and they won't be progressing to the semi-finals.

Irish captain Claire Molloy continues to dig away, but Julie Annery turns it over for France and Montserrat Amedee launches a clearing kick high into the night.

  9. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

France have upped the tempo again as Marjorie Mayans floats a little inside pass to Caroline Ladagnous - they're just showing off now.

But, as the French can so often do, a period of sublime passing is followed by a miserable knock-on and Ireland will come again.

  10. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

Ireland have had an incredible 98% possession in the last 10 minutes but are still without a point in this game.

They've looked short of ideas in attack despite hammering on the door, and after a fast start, the French have just sat back and absorbed the pressure.

  11. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

Agonisingly close for Ireland, who are camped on the French line.

They are throwing everything at this French defence but Ciara Griffin is held up over the line and it will be a French put-in at the scrum.

This is comfortable for Les Bleus.

  12. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

The Irish are unable to force their way through the French squad.

Plenty of spirit from the Irish, but that was easy for France to defend.

Ireland need to put pace on the ball and look to their runners - there's no way through in the forwards at the moment and time is running out.

At the moment it will be England v France and New Zealand v USA in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

  13. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

Marie-Louise Reilly plucks the ball out of the darkening skies in Dublin as she looks to put her side on the front foot from the line-out.

Ireland have France retreating as Lindsay Peat puts in another huge run, but Ireland are failing to penetrate so far.

France number eight Safi N'Diaye, who's been in full-force all evening, drives an Irish shirt backwards as the French brick wall stands strong.

A huge effort from the hosts but they're getting nowhere.

  14. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

    Ireland are getting frustrated.

Lindsay Peat collects the overthrow from the line-out but throws the ball forward with the try-line beckoning.

The crowd are still cheering their side but Ireland's World Cup dream is fading away.

  15. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

That's the luck of the Irish. Their line-out finds Sophie Spence who spills the ball all too easily but the referee says it went backwards and Ireland are allowed to build.

They win another penalty which is taken quickly by scrum-half Nicole Cronin and it's on to captain Claire Molloy to lead the Irish charge.

France are holding strong though, their defence has been unbreakable so far this evening.

Ireland are struggling to break through the French defence.
  16. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

Ireland with a solid scrum as they look to run the ball from deep and there's a high tackle from Caroline Ladagnous on Irish winger Alison Miller.

Ireland kick the ball down field and they have good field position here.

Thirty minutes to start clawing back that French lead and keep themselves in this World Cup.

  17. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

It looked like an injury to flanker Romane Menager.

    France's Romane Menager.
  18. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

But it's France, with 14 players, who are looking the most likely to score.

Ireland are letting the French run at them again and missing tackles.

The TMO intervenes and there's a high tackle from Claire Molloy and France get the penalty on the halfway line.

  19. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

  20. Post update

    France 21-0 Ireland

But it's frustration for the home crowd.

Ireland have missed the opportunity there as Nicole Cronin takes the ball at pace and knocks it forward.

Still plenty of time for the Irish to attack the 14 women of France.

But that's a huge scrum from the French and they get themselves out of a tricky situation.
