Bristol City have lost just once in the Championship this season and they also beat Stoke in the third round of the EFL Cup last week. They’re flying.

This has given the club ample opportunity to show off their swanky new goal celebration gifs, with this specimen from Tuesday night's win over Bolton Wanderers going viral…

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has told the BBC that he reckons these gifs might actually be inspiring the team to score more...

For no reason other than that we thought it might be, y’know, a bit of a laugh, we’ve used Bristol City's different goalscorer celebration gifs to dream up character profiles for each of the players.

Before you go and tell us off, just remember, we’re not saying that this is any reflection on the actual personalities of the players IRL. We're sure they're all top, top lads.

Jamie Paterson - Winger/forward

Likes gabba music, energy drinks that you buy at service stations and YouTube videos where people get ‘pranked’ by being fake-kidnapped. The lad you meet around the pool on the first day of holiday who's 'a real joker'.

Aden Flint - Defender

Likes going to Mexican restaurants where you get to wear the sombreros. Turned up to the Christmas do once dressed as Lady Gaga. It was banter. Not keen on exotic fruit and veg. Favourite film is Elf.

Korey Smith - Midfielder

Probably the one you’d most want to be mates with. Level head. Holds the club record for doing the water bottle flip trick. Steps in to calm things down when things get all pushy-shovey.

Jens Hegeler - Midfielder

Everyone’s cult-favourite. Dances like Neil out of The Inbetweeners Movie. Finds Keeping Up Appearances unbelievably funny.

Famara Diedhiou - Striker

Club prankster. Sticks his tongue out at every official media engagement.

Nathan Baker - Defender

At a glance, it may look like he’s shaking with excitement here, but, look in his eyes and you’ll see that it’s actually suppressed rage and shame. Just wants to play football and watch Borgen box sets. Not interested in ‘all this’.

Matty Taylor - Striker

Mostly just talks in quotes from Will Ferrell Movies or Family Guy. Wears t-shirts that say things like 'Trillionaire Boys Club'.

Cauley Woodrow - Striker

Just a nice lad really. Rings his mum twice a week. Brings his own sandwiches on away days. Gets annoyed sometimes on the team bus when the others are mucking about.

Bobby Reid - Midfielder

Once let off a fire extinguisher by mistake at training, and now everyone insists he pose with one. The irony is he's such a good boy. He'd never do anything like that.

Well, there you go. That was stupid, wasn’t it.

In all honesty, fair play to Lethal Brizzle City FC and their club social media people for coming up with this thing that we are enjoying very much.

Since they started the craze, copycats have popped up, including…

Bolton Wanderers

That's quite the thumbs up.

Celtic

I'm scared.

And Arsenal

Sassy.

Basically, we’ve only got limited time to truly enjoy this new phenomenon before big business comes in and totally pollutes what was once a fun and innocent thing. Lap it up…
